23.01.2022 Pretty exciting weekend here at Ev's Equine Services! Some may remember and be following the story of Miner, the stockhorse who came here around 20 months ago with severe bilateral locking stifles. Well today, Just after his 4th birthday, he took his first float trip and attended his first in hand classical dressage clinic (with my sister in law at the leadrope) and didnt miss a beat! ... He took everything in his stride and I could not be prouder of him right now. He really is a 'big boy' now. Bless him.
16.01.2022 Todays thoughts are - If you think something is not right with your horse, keep at it until youre confident you've found the answer for him. You know your horse better than anyone. Watch him, feel him, listen to him. Stand up for him and find the answers. Dont be pushed aside and talked over. Search everywhere and ask everyone. ... Find good people to surround you that listen and people that will help you search for the best outcome, what ever that may be, sometimes its not what you're hoping for, but find the best. Dont be scared to reach out and speak up and ask questions, for your horse. On another note - nep and I worked hard at a clinic this weekend and I rode with a smile all weekend :)
15.01.2022 Tonight I want to share with you how grateful I am for one of my very regular clients. Every single fortnight (and sometimes between) I spend at least half a day, sometimes a full day, at Kyalami Equestrian for Anita Sward. The horses at Kyalami are so well cared for and Anita always very carefully makes the best decisions for the health and well-being of the horses. ... Kyalami sports a large range of riding horses for all ages and levels and they all have regular massage and craniosacral therapy to keep them at the top of their game for their little riders. I love coming to Kyalami and being a small part of the team there. Thankyou for having me Anita. (This is an old photo, but always a good one)
14.01.2022 Some people have asked lately, 'what IS CranioSacral Therapy and what horse needs it?' Good question I say! CST in a gentle, hands on method of whole body evaluation and assessment that may have a positive impact on nearly every system of the body. Whether used alone or with more traditional healthcare methods, it has proven clinically effective on facilitating the bodys ability to self-heal. CST often produces extraordinary results. CST helps normalize the environment of ...the craniosacral system, a core physiological body system only recently scientifically defined. The craniosacral system extends from the skull, face, and mouth down to the sacrum and coccyx. It consists of a compartment formed by the dura mater membrane, the cerebrospinal fluid contained within, the systems that regulate the fluid flow, the bones that attach to the membranes, and the joints and sutures that interconnect these bones. By using about 5 grams of pressure, the CST practitioner evaluates the system by testing for ease of motion and the rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid pulsing within the membranes. Specific techniques are then used to release restrictions in sutures, fascia, membranes, and any other tissues that may influence the craniosacral system. The result is am improved internal environment that frees the central nervous system to return to its optimal levels of health and performance. (Ref: 'CranioSacral Therapy- what is it, how it works' John E. Upledger) Who can benefit? EVERY HORSE!! But think about the horses that has the 'unsolved', weird symptoms. When your horse has a funny little niggle you cant quite ease. The performance horse that you want to keep feeling their best. The horse that has had 'trauma' in their lives. The horse that has just had dental work! The young horse, the old horse, the horse that you love! So if any of these horses sounds like any you know- I would love to support them with CranioSacral Therapy.
14.01.2022 Isnt she beautiful. The cerebellum. It makes my mind buzz, sets my light on fire, keeps me awake at night, let's my brain never rest, I will forever be a student and never give up learning.
13.01.2022 Best of luck to all of my endurance clients at the Tas State Champs this weekend! Have fun, stay safe and have a wonderful ride! (Here is a flashback to when I was an endurance rider )
11.01.2022 Last weekend was very successful for one of my sponsored riders Angela Hawks and her endurance pony team. Ange is one extremely dedicated and talented young lady and I'm very proud to support her.
11.01.2022 I love my clients
10.01.2022 Modified some Old Mac boots the other day to help out a laminitic horse. Please be careful with horses of all ages, sizes, breeds this year and watch grass intake and hoof health. Laminitis is NOT fun.
09.01.2022 Thankyou to the Huon and Districts Pony and Riding Club for having me for a little chat about bridle fit with my friends (skulls) yesterday and some info on endurance riding!
09.01.2022 Yesterday handsome haflingers, today an endurance ride with a beautiful backdrop!
06.01.2022 A lovely review received from a client today. Changes like these just make me want to happy dance around **'Stitch has had regular cranio with Ev since August 2020. It has been integral to building strength and balance and find relaxation which he previously struggled with. He is worked classically in-hand or ridden 2-3 times a week. ... We really had a break through since Ev’s last session. Finding balanced work and happy on both reins in walk, trot and canter. When he ‘clicked on’ for a few strides here and there his work was amazing - he was figuring out his back end felt a bit different!! A week later and we had a gymnastic jumping lesson. He is so much stronger on both canter leads & really trying to stretch into the bridle. He was preferring his right lead which has always been sticky to pick up - those releases have helped him turn a big corner!! (He also did three, accidentally one time changes between two cross rails as clean as anything!)'**
05.01.2022 Its that time of year when im running around with 2 diaries for a bit!! A friendly reminder that if you are after an appointment before Christmas, spaces are extremely limited!
04.01.2022 Its been a while since I've actually been to an endurance ride and it was great fun. The Oss Folley Ride at Gowrie Park so well run and it was great to see so many of my clients in the one place. Although I do apologise as I didn't manage to get around everyone. Attached are some photos of one of my lovely sponsored rider Angela Hawks, who managed two successful 80ks (one with the very capable jockey @asha lamprey) and some clients I managed to catch in the vet ring between... work. And a HUGE well done to everyone, successful or not, who made it to the ride this weekend. Prepping a horse for endurance is a phenomenal fete.
04.01.2022 Im very lucky, or more so the wider horse community is very lucky, that many more owners are become interested in the benefits of CranioSacral therapy for their horses. (And other therapies in general) People are extending their knowledge and recognising that their horses are athletes and require support and help sometimes, even if they are 'just trail riders'. I'm being met with more 'audiences' when turning up to see horses, whichbi think is absolutely fantastic and I will... always take extra time to explain what I'm doing and answer any questions the best I can. But if you're turning up to watch a session because maybe you're a 'non believer' and you want to see what I 'do'.... You will most likely be bitterly disappointed, as I dont appear to be 'doing' much at all! There will not be any big flash movements from me, there will not be any amazing manoeuvres. I will blend and meld and do exactly what the horse needs, because in the end- the horse doesn't need you to 'beleive' in CranioSacral therapy for it to help him. He knows. And I'm not here for the people or the show. Im here for the horse. The results and changes speak for themselves, not the 'show'. And a huge thankyou to the owners that also are. X
