23.01.2022 Off season update. Our primary car is just about ready to race just waiting on a new motor to arrive (or donkey as ash refers to them). Currently building and stickering all our wings for next season, hopefully I don’t use too many what colours would you guys like to see on our cars next season or should we stick with the Black,red,gold and white theme? Super keen for our first test in the cars on the 04/4 at Cairns Speedway after all the changes we have made. 22.01.2022 Had a pretty successful night on Saturday night at Cairns Speedway for the second last race of the season. Played with the set up a lot more than what we usually do and it worked in our favour which ended in a strong result for the team. Heat 1 1st-2nd Had a pretty even start with the outside car and wasn’t able to hold my momentum on the bottom. Settled in for 2nd and had a comfortable gap back to 3rd... Heat 2 11th-4th Had a good jump going around the outside to stay out of all the trouble and ended up railing the top for the rest of the race. Heat 3 (highest points to the rear) 10th-5th Was second highest on points heading into the last heat but wasn’t able to make as many positions as I would have liked to. Had to be pretty cautious off the starts with the slower cars up the front. Feature 2nd-???? Was set to start out of 2nd but there was a very serious crash in the race before ours and the remainder of the night was cancelled . While we would of loved to have a crack and with a car that was more than capable at battling for the win, the speedway did the right thing and put the drivers safety first. We wish the driver involved a speedy recovery and hope to see him behind the wheel soon. As always a big thank you has to go out to all our sponsors and to everyone that tries their best to help out. 19.01.2022 Gave it everything we had last night but came up one place short of the podium. Struggled early in the night with the cars handling but managed to sort something out for the feature. Heat 1 1st-2nd With a track that you could probably drive better using a boat, the car struggled to find any grip on the track and had to back the car off due to hitting the limiter halfway down the straight. ... Heat 2 9th-3rd Didn’t get the best of starts trying to be cautious so had to work for all the positions. Had the car and motor locked down and pulled in at 3rd Heat 3 (highest points to the rear) 4th-4th Had a decent start jumping into 2nd but a driver error saw myself hit a rut too hard and half spin the car and drop back to 4th (Was a very clumsy mistake). Feature. 3rd-4th Made some dramatic changes to the car during the interval which saw the team change wing packages and made some changes to the shock package. Had a pretty even start but wasn’t able to carry any momentum on the bottom. After a stoppage Ash was able to make some in car adjustments which saw him be able to battle for 3rd after the restart. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to secure 3rd and had to settle for 4th. It’s definitely been a very up and down season but the main aim of this season was to try learn more things about the car. We are very happy with the feedback from our car and are looking forward to showing our full potential. 18.01.2022 Cairns Feature. Ash starting in 3rd
18.01.2022 Ended up on three wheels last night. Had motor issues in the first two heats but managed to get the motor singing for the third heat and the feature. Had the pace in the feature to challenge other drivers for a good finishing result but a faulty wheel nut led to the front left wheel falling off. Will asses the car and see what other damage has occurred and try get it sorted for next weekend at Pioneer Park Speedway. Seems although we have had so much bad luck lately but hope...fully we can turn that around this weekend and get a good result for the team and the sponsors. 18.01.2022 Another trying night for the team. Had a great start to the night being highest points man heading into the third heat but didn’t carry the momentum for the rest of the night. Heat 1 4th-2nd Had a great start going around the outside and getting level with the pole car but couldn’t get any traction on the loose dirt and had to settle in for 2nd. Both the car and motor were on point ... heat 2 4th-2nd Had a decent start picking off 3rd place and had settled in to a good rhythm catching up to 2nd when the car in front had some issues and had to stop with 2 laps to go. Got a good jump off the restart but wasn’t able to have a crack at 1st. Once again the car and motor ran faultlessly Heat 3 (Fastest to the rear) 6th-5th Was extremely happy that we were highest on points but unfortunately due to a pretty average start i wasn’t able to make much progress. Had a crack at 4th with a few laps to go but wasn’t able to make it stick. Feature 3rd-Dnf Had a great first start jumping into 1st but was deemed a jump start even though i was level with the outside pole car heading into turn 1. Off the Second start i had to be cautious not to pass the cars in-front as i had already been given a warning for passing off the starts. Heading into turn 1 the outside pole car cut off the pole car forcing him to get on the breaks and with me right behind him it left me no where to go other than into him and resulting in the car flipping. Personally, i was very disappointed at myself for throwing away a potential top 3 finish but looking back at the heats i am extremely happy on how well we did to even start on the second row against the drivers that were racing. We have assessed the car this morning and will get practically a new car for the Queensland Titles in Pioneer Park Speedway next weekend. Once again i’d like to thank everyone who supports the team and eveyone who is sticking behind us through these trying times. 17.01.2022 Another tough yet rewarding weekend in the books. The team started the night off with some electrical issues which would see Ash not be able to finish the first two heats. After fixing the problem, Ash was able to finish the third heat with some minor tuning issues. In the feature Ash was able to make some great moves after starting from the back with the car running the best it has been whilst in seniors. RESULTS: heat 1 8th-DNF heat 2 8th-DNF... heat 3 8th- 5th Feature: 13th-7th A massive thank you has to go to Louis Underwood for all the hard work he has put in to our car. Whilst the results might not show it, Louis has been busting his backside trying to get our car to run properly whilst trying to manage 2 other cars. We are extremely grateful for the amount of time and hard work he has put into our car and highly recommend him to anyone who needs help on or off the track. 14.01.2022 Sorry for the lack of updates whilst on our victorian assult. Been hectic down here Round 1 at Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway did not go our way with a bent front end and a right front shock that had broke in the final. Round 2 at Mid-Western Speedway Darlington struggled early in the night but got the car locked for the 2nd heat and feature taking the win... Round 3 at Laang Speedway Club was one to forget blowing a motor in the first heat and then having our second motor overheat in the feature whilst running 5th Final round tomorrow night at Portland Speedway. Fingers crossed all goes well. Whilst we may not have the results we wanted we are very proud of what we have accomplished whilst down here and throughout our season, being able to compete against some of australia’s best drivers and been good enough to get a few wins. As a driver i feel that we have a extremely competitive package heading into my first season as a senior driver in the Q99 machine and excited to see how the future plans out for our team. 11.01.2022 Happy to announce we have been ranked 5th (highest placed queenslander) in Australia out of all the junior formula 500s for 2019-2020. So happy to make the top 5 despite the lack of racing and the amount of bad luck we had this year. Hopefully this gets Ash’s name thrown around a bit heading into his first season as a senior driver. 10.01.2022 Wall 1:Ash 0 Very up and down night for the North queensland titles. We had a few set up issues which hurt any chance of a good starting position in the feature not that it would of made much difference in the end heat 1: start 5th-5th... Made a few positions off the start but struggled with the set up and ended up losing all the spots i had made up Heat 2: Start 1st-3rd Was a wet track and starting on the bottom i couldn’t get any traction and went backwards. Was able to keep onto 3rd to cross the line heat 3: start 8th-4th Finally with a rough track and a set up to suit i was able to make some passes. had a great start moving up a few positions but a few laps later i hit a rut a bit too hard and spun the car. With only a few laps to go i was able to charge through the field and had a crack at 3rd on the last corner of the last lap but came up just short. Feature: Start 8th-Dnf Unfortunately due to some pretty poor driving in my heats and a car that wasn’t exactly ideal for the conditions i started a lot further back then what i would have wanted to. Had a great start going up to 5th and went to rail the top when i hit a run with my right rear tire and sent the car straight into the wall. Very unfortunate way to end the night after having such promising speed in the last heat but the team will get a car built up for this weekend and have another crack at it. It’s definitely been a busy couple of weeks having raced 4 meeting in 5 weeks and not having the results the team and myself would of liked to see but i’m sure things will turn around for us. 09.01.2022 And that’s a wrap for the 2020 season. Before i say anything a massive thank you has to go to mum and dad for all the passion, love and money they put into me and my racing career. After starting the year on the back foot myself and the team were able to secure 3rd place in the club championship. The aim of this season was to try new products and try new set ups on the Nq99 and we have all the knowledge we need for the 2021 season. After having one of the most compacted seaso...ns we have ever endured, the team attended every race that went ahead and if we finished we had podium potential. This year was the first year that we started our suzuki program in conjunction with Kartcity and was also the first year that we hadn’t had the change an engine and was unfortunately for me was the first time i couldn’t blame the engine. Everyone at kartcity has gone that one step further to help out our little team and is extremely appreciated. Once again the Nq99 Stallard SST survived everything i put it through. I’m pretty sure that anything that bolted onto the frame was replaced at one point and yet the chassie withheld and absorbed every rock, wall and every spanner dad threw at it. Unfortunately that will be the last time that we will be at the track for a while. We were trying to organise for Ash to have a couple of meetings in a sprint car which unfortunately fell through but have some other plans that could see us back on the track in a few different cars. With one season finishing we now look at 2021 and what we can do to ensure that we can challenge for wins each night. We plan to have a big year racing across 3 states and many nights on the road. 07.01.2022 Well we definitely didn’t do it the easy way last night but we still got there in the end. A top 5 at any title is an accomplishment but to come 4th after starting 9th at the 2020 Queensland Titles and being my first year in Seniors is something that myself and the team will remember for a lot longer than any other race. Heat 1 7th-5th Had a pretty poor start hitting the car in front of me and damaging my front wing but was able to pass cars late in the race.... Heat 2 5th-3rd Had a pretty good start but after getting caught behind a slower car I wasn’t able to catch the front 2 cars. Heat 3 2nd-4th Probably one of the worst starts I have done all year being on the outside on a single lane track I got pushed out wide and wasn’t able to get back down in time. A-Main 9th-4th After starting the weekend the goals were to just make the main event, but to qualify straight into the A main and to be starting inside the top 10 we were pretty happy. After a pretty poor start dropping back to 11th and smashing the infield tire on the first lap I put my head down and drove probably the best I have ever driven. After a few restarts I was in the top 5 when I made the move for 4th and got it done. With a couple more laps I’d like to think that I could of had a crack at 3rd, but we will never know. I was over the moon to finish inside the top 5 at our first crack and to finally finish a race without crashing. 07.01.2022 FIRST TOP 5 FINISH!! Finally after all the hours of hard work and long nights scratching our heads in confusion, we have finally resolved our motor issues that we have been having lately. Heat 1:... 4th-3rd Had a good start picking 3rd place off but wasn’t able to catch the car in front due to making too many mistakes trying different lines. Heat 2: 3rd-2nd Had a great start moving up one position. Ran the leader down with around 3 laps to go when i tried to have a crack at passing him but wasn’t able to get the job done. Heat 3 7th-5th Had another good start picking off 2 cars but wasn’t able to make anymore passes due to the track going completely slick with no top line. We tried something a little bit different with the setup that bit us in the bum but will now know for next time not to do it. Feature 6th-5th Had a pretty good start picking off one car but being on the outside lane i wasn’t able to hold the position. Was settled in 6th for majority of the race when a few cars got together. Got a good jump off the restart and was able to get pass the car in front and hold onto 5th. Overall i’m extremely happy about how well we went with it being the first time the car has run faultlessly. We will make a few changes before our next race to hopefully find some more speed. 03.01.2022 All ready to rumble here at Pioneer Park Speedway. Going to have to push hard in my heats for a good starting position in the final. 03.01.2022 Had to work for it last night but got there in the end Had a pretty up and down night last night at Cairns Speedway. Struggled with the changing track and wasn’t able to get on top of it early enough... Heat 1 5th-3rd Had a good start moving straight into 3rd and was slowly catching 2nd but too many driver errors cost us a higher finishing result. Heat 2 7th-6th Struggled with the handling of the car and wasn’t able to make up many positions. settled in 6th and sat there to finish the race Heat 3 (highest points to the rear) 6th-2nd Due to a poor finishing result in the second heat we were pretty bad on points so i knew i had to do something pretty amazing to give me a good starting position for the feature. The crew made some dramatic changes to the car between the heats which payed off. managed to rail the top getting up to second on the first lap and stayed there for the rest of the race. Feature 3rd-3rd A pretty even start and not been a whole lot on the bottom saw me drop to 4th place off the start. Had settled in when the 3rd place car had come unstuck with a lapped car. Off the restart I got a good jump but wasn’t able to get 3rd gear so had to back off a couple times through the lap to try and get it. Eventually i got 3rd gear but by then the front 2 cars had cleared out. We struggled a lot with the cars handling in the feature but after some investigating today we have found that the right rear shock had taken a rock to the shaft and had lost all pressure. Even though the team got a good result as a driver i feel although there is still a lot of work to do to get to that next step where we can challenge for wins. We will have a week off and get ready for the next meeting. 01.01.2022 Still looking pretty. With all the restrictions lifting, hopefully racing will be starting back up soon. Super excited for the season to start. The team have put together one of the nicest packages around for Ash to use for the season including a few R&D products to try out. With the 2020 season still unconfirmed on what races are going ahead the team have started to plan a calendar for the 2021 season which will see us racing all across Qld, Vic and Nsw. We will keep you all... updated on where we are racing when more information is released.
