17.01.2022 On Easter Sunday, since we can’t attend church or spend time with our special people we are encouraging everyone to put a palm frond out the front of their house to show our faith.
14.01.2022 More good news on the road love front! Smooth new road on the way for Ewingsdale Road & the works will be done at night! Council will be doing major roadworks o...n Ewingsdale Road from McGettigans Lane to the Cavanbah Centre starting on 22 June 2020. The road is the primary entry point to Byron Bay and carries approximately 23,500 vehicles a day. The $600,000 project is funded by Council and Transport for NSW and will include the reconstruction of sections of the road and a new asphalt overlay. Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said people who drive on the road regularly will know that the section east of the Byron Central Hospital to the Cavanbah Centre is in poor condition and this is going to the be focus of the work. Ewingsdale Road is one of the busiest roads in the entire Northern Rivers and is the gateway to Byron Bay and when we have finished it will be a much safer and smoother drive for everyone, Mr Holloway said. Because the road is so busy the work will be done at night, starting at 7pm and finishing around 5am in the morning and will take around six days to finish. Council, and the NSW Government, are very aware of the issue of congestion on this road especially around the Byron Central Hospital and Transport for NSW is working on a long-term solution to the traffic problems which often spill out onto the motorway, Mr Holloway said. In the meantime, Council is doing these major repairs of the surface on Ewingsdale Road, and we are also working hard on completing the Byron Bay town bypass which will be open by Christmas. The bypass will serve to take traffic out of the town centre, allowing drivers a quicker, easier way of getting across town. It won’t fix the congestion, or stop the number of cars coming into Byron, but it will be a benefit to the people who live in Byron and simply want to drop their kids to school, or get to work, he said.
