23.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day. It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. The issue of mental health and wellbeing is one the EWPA is committed to proactively raising awareness of, as well as supporting EWPA members through providing them with a links to resources and tools. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even m...ore important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. For more information or to access RUOK? resources visit www.ruok.org.au/

21.01.2022 Congratulations to our Photo of the Year winner - Alex Greisdorf from United Forklift and Access Solutions for this great shot titled Pop up Theatre. There were a number of mural-related submissions, but this image caught the eye of the judges for the ingenuity of the client at a time when the entertainment industry has been so impacted by COVID-19. Here the job shows a pop-up theatre in Perth, the world’s first full-scale temporary working replica of the second Globe, the th...eatre Shakespeare and co. built in 1614 after the first Globe burned down. You can read more about the winning entry on the Hire & Rental News website - https://www.hireandrentalnews.com.au/ Congratulations again to Alex!

17.01.2022 PHOTO OF THE YEAR - ENTRIES CLOSE 15 SEPTEMBER We understand and appreciate the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on many of our members. We also believe, where possible that we should push ahead with business-as-usual activities particularly those that will assist in ensuring our industry remains strong once we get through this period of uncertainty. Business is far from usual, and for many, work looks very different. So in line with the HRIA’s planned photo compet...ition, we thought it would be useful to capture how different things are, so we can look back in years to come and have a visual documentation of how things looked during the pandemic. We are on the look out for a photo that reflects the hire industry in Australia. In these current times this may be different to usual perhaps business has slowed down and you have a yard full of equipment, maybe you have found opportunities to hire out your equipment for a different purpose than you had previously, you may have picked up jobs in different locations than usual, or it may be business as usual. Whatever the case we would love to see your snaps. The photos will be judged by the HRIA National Office with the winning shot receiving a $150 Visa Gift card and being published on the Hire & Rental News website (and newsletter) in September. This competition is open to all staff working for HRIA members and entrants must own the copyright to the photograph entered. Entries should be submitted to [email protected] and entries close 15 September 2020.
14.01.2022 October is Safe Work Month, an initiative we at the EWPA strongly support. No one should be unsafe at work and no injury or death is acceptable. That is why each October businesses, employers and workers across Australia join together and commit to building safe and healthy workplaces for all Australians. This year’s theme, Work Health and Safety through COVID-19, acknowledges and reflects the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian businesses, employers and workers.... Workplaces have had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce the WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers. The National Safe Work Month theme highlights the WHS challenges, as well as the positive outcomes brought on by the pandemic and the significant role WHS plays in keeping workers safe and preventing the spread of COVID-19. The EWPA is at the forefront of best practice and safety. Whilst COVID-19 has changed everything, we continue to strive to offer support to our members that will assist in ensuring our industry remains strong once we get through this period of uncertainty. And even more so when it has to do with safety. To kick off Safe Work Month we are holding a webinar - reducing accidents in your hire operation where we will have a panel of presenters outlining how you can minimise the risks of accidents in your hire operation. We will then also wrap up the month with a webinar covering off secondary guarding systems for MEWPS.
