25.01.2022 Yes, that’s me!

25.01.2022 Don’t be held back from writing your book by worrying about things like people disliking it. Everybody has different tastes. Not everybody likes the same flavour of ice cream, and some people don’t even like ice cream at all! So keep writing, work at it, and spin a story that you truly love. #RedHeadEditor

22.01.2022 A great editor will do a percentage of the crying for you, and then send it back in better shape than ever!

22.01.2022 With love to all in lockdown.

20.01.2022 Oh, honey, no.

16.01.2022 The hilarious guide to curating the ideal ‘display only’ bookshelf for your toddler. What kids books did you genuinely love as a child? Dr Seuss and Beatrix Potter were some of my favourites. #kidsbooks #funny

15.01.2022 The best things in life are: Patrons who return their books on time, who have a love of reading and will treat their tomes with care and compassion... also, to strike fear in the hearts of those who abuse the library's good nature, drive them before you as you crush their hopes and dreams under your feet and hear their cries and lamentations as you exact their late fees and penalties from them. - George Woodruff

15.01.2022 Some authors doubt themselves, and wonder if anyone will be interested in the story they have to share. Let me assure you, there is something out there for everybody! Yes, I checked, this is a real book.

15.01.2022 Proud editor moment! My copy of ‘It Wasn’t Me!’ by Melissa Jakeman has arrived. Illustrated by Charles and Angela Davis, this fun story features a monster who gets up to all kinds of mischief, but nobody in the house wants to take responsibility. Tune in tonight at 8:15, when I will post the reading aloud of this fun story. #RedheadEditor #StoryTime

14.01.2022 What do you think of this bookcase\storage unit? Is it to separate your fiction\non-fiction? I'm not keen!

13.01.2022 Here’s a brilliant way to find new books you’ll love. What interests you? Do you like older or younger characters? Human or non-human? Do you enjoy a story that makes you laugh or cry, is heavy or light on aspects such as sex and violence? Where on the scale is your preference for the story being unpredictable, disturbing or beautiful? This remarkable site lets you plug in all kinds of variables and gives you the results. Then you can click on each book and get a short description plus a quick quote to give you a snapshot. So many categories, so clever. I’ve already discovered some gems I never heard of before! You can thank me later! #RedHeadEditor #BookLover

13.01.2022 Never give up! This is brilliant. You are awesome. Just keep writing. #RedHeadEditor #inspirational

12.01.2022 Proud to be the editor for this fun and quirky children’s book, launching next month! This is a delightful book with a great message of being brave enough to seek help for your problems if you are not managing them on your own. How will Sarah sort out her knotty problem? Well done to author Seacia and publisher @Samantha Jansen. #RedHeadEditor #kidsbooks

12.01.2022 Unsure if you should bare your soul or bear with if? Should you wait to take the weight off your shoulders? Here’s some great illustrations of commonly misspelled words. Don’t worry if a few sneak through, however; your friendly editor is here to catch them for you! #RedHeadEditor

12.01.2022 Your book collection is usually quite a personal reflection of your life and what you love. This is why visitors to your home will often take a look at your bookshelves rather than peek in your kitchen cabinets! Does your bookshelf give an overview of your life and interests? 11.01.2022 What would you write if you had everything you needed to support you in your endeavour? Few of us are lucky enough to have support for a whole year to write a masterpiece, but there are other supports you can use. Writers groups, beta readers, publishers and of course, dedicated editors can all help in bringing your work together and helping it be the best it can possibly be. Never be afraid in asking for help, as assistance from somebody who has expertise in the area you lack can make all the difference. #RedHeadEditor #takesavillage

11.01.2022 Long before ‘fake news’ there was Joseph Pulitzer. You may have heard of the Pulitzer Prize, awarded for excellence in journalism. No matter what kind of writing you do, you have the same opportunities he describes here.

09.01.2022 When you are writing a book, it’s vital to think about your audience. Are you trying to inform, entertain or educate? While yes, the book is about you, it’s also very much about considering your reader and making their experience an enjoyable one. #RedHeadEditor

07.01.2022 With every kind of book it’s important to ask the question; who is your audience and what is your message? Who is your intended reader? What age group? Is it for business, to inform or to entertain? #RedHeadEditor

07.01.2022 Reading and education - gifts to young minds that will serve them all their lives. Bravo, Dolly Parton

04.01.2022 Two facts that became increasingly clear during the pandemic: 1) Our mental health is key. 2) As individuals, there is no such thing as an effective one-size-fits-all approach. I’m so proud to be the editor of this new book, featuring 11 different healthcare professionals and endorsed by experts in the field of mental health, stress, anxiety and burnout. Each author explains the benefits of their particular modality, plus gives the reader practical tips that they can immed...iately implement for themselves. 03.01.2022 Listen up, dear writers who dream of publishing their book, for I have a joyful tale to share. Self-publishing and traditional publishing are very distinct and valid options and each writer will have different reasons for the path they choose. Some time ago, in the distant pre-COVID past, I edited a book by a writer who had originally written two books about two brothers, and then merged them into one. Part of my editing work was ensuring it was one cohesive story. Many mont...hs after finishing the edits, I couldn’t get the story out of my head; it was enthralling. I got in touch with the author, Christopher Hawkes, to ask if he’d found a publisher and he told me sadly he’d had no luck as yet, and had put it aside while he concentrated on a new book. A few days later I was in a Facebook group chatting with some other writers and editors and came across a lovely lady who I told about this book, mentioning how memorable the lead characters were. She told me of a published author from interstate; Cameron Raynes, author of ‘First Person Shooter.’ Excited by some common threads, we managed to introduce the two. Cameron was very kind and helpful and my author, Christopher, was encouraged to submit his manuscript to the publishing company. I was deeply thrilled when they echoed my comments on what a compelling and intense story it was! Christopher was offered a contract and after many, many months and COVID-related delays, the book is ready. It has a stunning cover. It has some impressive endorsements. ‘The Miscreants’ is going to be available on the 1st of May 2021, so look out for it! For those of you slogging away writing brilliant books or searching for the perfect publisher, keep going. Sometimes the ‘yes’ is only one more connection away. Heartfelt congratulations to Christopher, both for his remarkable book and his persistence. Both are required for success and I’m thoroughly delighted. #RedHeadEditor #PublishedAuthor

02.01.2022 What kind of dangerous reading do you prefer?

02.01.2022 Hero of the week! I think many of the hard-working authors I know would sprint into a burning building to save one completed manuscript; two is a complete no-brainer! #RedHeadEditor #Hero
