21.01.2022 Another day being a sponge and soaking up the valuable knowledge being shared at @intuitquickbooksau Get Connected event. I love the advances Intuit is making to Quickbooks Online to make it a software of choice for small businesses. Value pricing came up again and @rhondalynn_businest pointed out the difference between fixed fee and value pricing, or rather pricing value. Bookkeeping and compliance work is seen as a readily available commodity, but the other advisory work I can help my clients with will be where they can see the most change to their business, especially if I can solve what is keeping them at night.

14.01.2022 One value that resonates with me is authenticity, however, it occurred to me that I am not being authentic myself. In my quest to appear more professional, I realised my website may portray me as a run of the mill, generic accounting firm. As a friend pointed out to me, the reason why businesses will want to work with me is because I am me. I am a sole practitioner running a small business, not a big accounting firm. I will treat every client like they are my only client and genuinely care about helping their business and dream succeed. Maybe the universe is giving me a sign, as during tonight’s #sidehustleslingshot group coaching live chat, @_rubylee_ mentioned the same thing! It’s time to look at becoming more authentic and personalised on my website and social media, without worrying about appearing unprofessional.

13.01.2022 I’ve had a not so great experience with coaching in the past but now I realise it was because I hadn’t found the right person. As a result of that experience, I had never really considered coaching again until I found @_rubylee_. I first discovered Ruby on LinkedIn and I was drawn to her enthusiasm, energy and openness. Ruby puts out so much valuable free content and shares so much of her life and story, I felt a connection to her message. I found out she was running a 10 da...y intensive coaching course called ‘Side Hustle Slingshot’ and it coincided with me feeling like I was getting no where with my newly started business and questioning whether I had done the right thing. At that point, I had decided I needed to do at least one thing every day to keep my business moving forward so I signed up to the program. We have just finished the 10 day program today and it has not only re-energised my business, but has also been huge for my own personal growth and development. I’ve had an amazing mindset shift and been able to break free from (some of) my limiting beliefs. I have a lot more clarity now on my direction moving forward and a clear action plan. 07.01.2022 Attended the @accountantsdaily Strategy Day today. Value based pricing was featured topic and something I believe in doing. It is an ongoing work in progress to try to get right and be able to properly articulate the services my clients will be getting. I used to think an hourly rate is the fairer way to charge, but actually it is rewarding people who work slow and take longer.
