This means that instead of closing, the Tasmanian Country the Voice of Rural Tasmania - will now continue to be published weekly. Now 100 per cent locally owned, 100 per cent locally produced and 100 per cent independently edited by Karolin MacGregor and reporter-at-large Roger Hanson. We are also pleased to announce that the team behind the proposed Island Country newspaper Karolin MacGregor, Leena Lavonius and James Young - have joined us, making a great newspaper even better. At Font, we believe community and regional newspapers play a vital role in Tasmania’s social and economic life and we are proud to have been able to save the Tasmanian Country from closure. This will ensure rural Tasmania continues to have a voice for many years to come. Veterinarian Peter de Boer will be donating his time on Saturday 5th o...f September 2020 at the Beaconsfield Community Hall to microchip cats between 8am and 12 noon. Microchips and registrations will be provided free of charge by the West Tamar Council for residents of the West Tamar, upon proof of residency. Cats in attendance must be contained.
