13.01.2022 For Sale - BGC Disagreement is one of the 5 D's that I discussed a few weeks ago. This is one hell of a disagreement as there are 15 shareholders involved.... What is the point of all the hard work and sacrifice over a 50-year period to end up where BGC is right now? This is a classic example of a privately-owned business that did NOT have an exit plan in place and it will cost them dearly. The business will not have been prepared for sale because it is for sale due to disagreement not planning. There is no way they will get top dollar for this business because they will be seen as needing to sell and those with the money to buy a business of that size will see the "blood in the water" from the disagreement going on. For a situation like this, when drawing up a Will it is vital that the beneficiaries are all on the same page and that would have required Family meetings to discuss this. Equally important is to have a Succession and Exit plan drawn up in consultation with those it will affect - the Family members. This should have been done years ago and regularly reviewed.
