23.01.2022 Have you checked out the recently completed mosaic planters out the front of Arts Centre yet? This wonderful group project has involved 21 different artists learning mosaic skills in order to collectively complete the planters which are made up of 24 separate panels. The panels run around all four sides of the planters, so the back panels need to be viewed from inside the Arts Centre. Huge thanks to our tutors, local artists Gill Morris, Anne Ransom and Tina Jackson for being so generous in sharing their skills, and to our sponsors the Shire of Exmouth and Woodside whose funding made it all possible.

21.01.2022 Watercolour workshop with Dave Conlin on the 26th September Proudly sponsored by Woodside A WONDERFUL WEEK-END OF ART! Soothe the spirit, educate the mind, find your inner Rembrandt! ... Exmouth Cultural Arts Centre are hosting 2 painting workshops Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September. Pick one or really spoil yourself and do both. These workshops represent great value at $60.00 per day which includes all materials, just bring your own lunch and sense of adventure. The artist/tutor for both days is the talented and hugely entertaining Dave Conlin. On Saturday he will be teaching watercolours, always a popular medium. On Sunday, he will be using acrylics, exploring the Zorn limited palette technique. This will show us how to create an artwork with a minimum of colours, blending and mixing to achieve a harmonious effect. This technique was favoured by portrait artists but is not limited to portraits. There are places still available for both days, workshops are for members so non-members will need to pay an extra one-off payment of $20.00 being half year fees Register for these workshops at the ECAC gallery on Murat Rd between the Ningaloo Centre and the big prawn, (the old Visitors Centre building) open daily between 10.a.m. and 3 p.m.

20.01.2022 Rules of the Game; The subject of the portrait must be someone who is, or has been, an Exmouth resident Each entry is to depict one subject only Each artist can enter a maximum of THREE portraits ... Each portrait must be entirely the work of the submitting artist No minimum or maximum size limits As the original object of the exercise was to find out more about the Exmouth community, artists need to write an accompanying piece to introduce the subject. This can be purely statistical about their time and occupation in Exmouth but (with their permission) any little anecdotes which help illustrate their character would be useful. The judges will also be reading these and giving consideration to the effort which went into them. Maximum A4 sheet, in arial font, minimum font size 12 The sheet should show the name of the subject but not your own name. Tags for each entry will be printed by ECAC and displayed next to entries after judging has taken place Portraits are to be in any 2D medium that can be hung on a wall. Separate categories for 1 - photography & digital, 2 other media Entries are to be presented professionally and ready to hang using ‘D’ hooks and picture cord or wire. ECAC can refuse to accept entries which do not meet this standard. ‘D’ hooks and picture cord are available for sale at the gallery. While we encourage youth artists to bring their entries ready to hang, gallery staff will be available to advise or help with presentation when entries are dropped off please arrive in good time before gallery closing if you will need help. This will not entail fancy framing, just mounting and attachment of cord to enable hanging. All entries will be displayed ‘not for sale’ It is up to the artist to decide what happens to their piece after the exhibition, i.e. to keep, sell or gift the piece. This business is to be carried out independently of ECAC. All artworks are entered into Exibald at the owners risk. ECAC, its staff and volunteers are not responsible for any loss or damage which may occur. Your signature on the entry form shows acceptance of all terms and conditions. No late entries accepted (see front sheet for dates to remember) ECAC may retain digital images of Exibald entries for archiving See more
