22.01.2022 37 players thought golfing was better than fishing when they fronted up to play in the last Stroke game for the season, the Barb and Darrell Olds Mental Health Day, an event that also proudly supports Beyond Blue. $1,000 was raised for this most worthwhile cause. The game was played in truly tough conditions with southerly wind gusts reaching 60kph at times and the scores certainly reflected the day. Bert Brescianini secured his second win of the year with a mighty fine 72ne...tt to win the day in a countback from Lorraine Shales, also with a 72nett. In third place were the trio of Vicki McLeod, Kerry Graham and Bron Giles on 75nett edging out the pair of Peter Maier and Brent Bright on 76 nett with the threesome of Dale Russell, Ken Lowth and Dick Goodlet in fifth place on 77nett. Best Gross with 83 off the bat was Dale Russell. The NAGA with a truly inspiring 100nett was Rita Lewin. 21.01.2022 36 players rocked up to play in a Stableford game proudly sponsored by member Chris Boon with calm conditions to start but with moderate south-west winds through the middle of the afternoon. While we were playing, the Exmouth Eagles Football Club hosted their first Gascoyne Football Association Grand Final on the town oval and duly won in grand style. Good onya guys. Trevor Epding played best to record a fine 38 points to edge out Ashley Maloney in second place with 37 point...s who secured that position on a countback to Mandy Francis-Maier finishing in third place also on 37 points. The trio of Brent Bright, Peter Sutcliffe and Wendy Deering were fourth on 36 points in front of another trio of Sandy Wyld, Louise Griffin and Teressa Miller on 35 points. Rounding out sixth place were Dale Russell, Ian Ogden, Gregg Abraham and Kerry Graham on 34 points. The NAGA with a mighty 27 points was last week’s winner Bert Brescianini. Peter Maier scored a mighty fine 40 points to take out the win edging out the pair of Louise Griffin and Sandy Wyld on 39 points. In third place on 38 points were Trevor Epding and Kerrie O’Halloran with Ian Ogden one shot further back on 37 points. In fifth place alone was Chris Boon on 35 points. The NAGA with a carefully constructed 20 points was Adam R...obson. Special mention must go to Adam who, among the carnage was able to drive # 6 green and make the putt to grab an eagle and with that, the Eagle’s Nest. 15.01.2022 53 players rocked up in moderate to strong westerly winds to play in the Exmouth Wholesalers 2 ball Ambrose competition. As well as a chance to win the competition, there was a draw at presentation to select ‘secret partners’ and have a second chance to win. A huge thank you to Mal, Marie, Damon and Candice from Exmouth Wholesalers who for organizing a cracker day. As well as a fantastic array of prizes worth more than $2,000, 3 X $100 meat packs were donated to raffle and e...veryone was fed with a mighty steak burger after the game. Brent Bright and Norm McLeod were fourth on 67.25nett with Jarryd Oxley and Adam Booth in fifth place on 67.5nett. Best Gross went to Trevor Epding and Mark Sherwin with 69 off the bat and the NAGA went to Jasper Spiers and Chad Ferrari with a mighty 87nett. 2 gnomes were hidden in scrub out on the course to find and the champion gnome finders (or scrub bashers) were Jim Lovett and Chad Ferrari. There was also a Par 3 competition with entry at $20 with a chance to win $10 back for each Par 3 green landed on from the tee. 10.01.2022 Round 2 of the Club Championships was played on Sunday in moderate south-westerly winds and 33 players came out for a game. The day was again proudly sponsored by John and Liz Anderson and the theme was both pink and blue as the club raised money for both breast cancer research and prostate cancer research. With 2 players tied on 70nett, a countback prevailed and so it was that Steve Miller emerged triumphant with Chris Boon an unfortunate second. 09.01.2022 The field fronted up on Saturday to play in a Par game proudly sponsored by Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort with calm conditions initially before turning to moderate westerly winds later in the afternoon. Play started at 11am in order to finish in time for presentations and to watch the AFL Grand Final. Trevor Epding negotiated the course best to win with a fine +4. Ashley Maloney grabbed second place with a +2 edging out Dale Russell on a countback also on +2. In fourth plac...e on his own was Wade Tindall all square with the quintet of Peter Maier, Stewie Kerr, Gregg Abraham, Dick Goodlet and Kerry Graham in fifth place all on -1. It was also the last chance for players to make an impression on the end of year Stableford trophy and the Consistency trophy. Winds were quite strong early but settled a bit to be moderate southerly winds as the day progressed. Bearing in mind that each day is a competition in its own right, it was Bert Brescianini that emerged from the pack to record a mighty 68nett to win easily from second placegetter Len Ashworth on 71nett. 03.01.2022 The Exmouth Cup in only its second year was run over the weekend with two competitions, an American Foursomes and a 4BBB (both pairs events) being played over Saturday and Sunday to decide the winners. The first game, a German (American) Foursomes celebrating Oktoberfest was proudly sponsored by Yardie Creek Boat Tours and 35 players turned up to play in at times windy conditions with all points of the compass coming in to play. American Foursomes is essentially a Stroke gam...e and the winners with a mighty fine 69.5 nett was the pair of Ned Haywood and Stewie Kerr edging out Dick Goodlet and Trevor Jones on 70.5 nett.
