16.01.2022 Welcome to 2021! Can't wait to get stuck into research again this year, it's going to be a big one. Speaking of research... last year, PhD candidate Josh Bonesso published his scientific paper investigating the fragile ecosystem of the Pilbara reef islands off Exmouth Gulf. We are proud to announce this included MERL’s first mention in scientific literature, acknowledging our funding and logistical support through the facility. 15.01.2022 Throwback back Thursday to July 2020... Orca legend John Toddy Totterdell, from Cetrec WA, joined the MERL team onboard the Tethys, and we were lucky enough to spend an afternoon observing and photographing an orca family including Hook, Ellie and Spinner, and even witnessed a humpy calf kill. There is still a lot to learn about these amazing and elusive creatures and we were stoked to be of service to Toddy and his great research.
