24.01.2022 Are you experiencing pain, numbness or tingling in the buttock, thigh, leg or foot? All these symptoms can be a result of sciatica, which occurs when there is increased pressure or tension on the sciatic nerve caused by entrapment by another structure along its pathway. There are multiple different sites of sciatic entrapment including intervertebral discs, the piriformis muscle and on bony prominences. By adjusting the spine, hips and legs we are able to relieve pressure o...n the nerve by restoring body alignment, which in turn balances muscle tone, reduces global nerve tension and relieves pain. Through a functional neuromuscular examination our practitioners will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis and explanation of the causes of your leg pain, thereafter providing the appropriate advice or treatment course to follow. 24.01.2022 Plantar Fasciitis Plantar fasciitis is an irritation of the calcaneal insertion point of the muscles underneath the foot into the heel. These muscles are the starting point of the superficial back line, a chain of muscles and fascia which is interlinked starting underneath the foot and finishing as a thick band of fascia on top of the skull. The lower half of this chain is innervated by the nerves of the lower back, and when nerves in this area have become impinged by things... like bulging discs or postural issues it can lead to tension and pain underneath the feet. If you’re experiencing foot pain and are unsure of the cause, don’t hesitate to book in with one of our chiropractors who will be able to provide an accurate diagnosis and offer advice on the most effective treatment for you.

22.01.2022 Hip Pain Are you experiencing any pinching, burning or aching in the hip joint? These symptoms are most often a result of conditions like bursitis, nerve impingements or tendinopathies in the hip region. The reason these conditions occur is due to faulty muscle patterns around the joint, resulting in irritation of structures like bursae, tendons or the joint itself. These faulty muscle patterns essentially boil down to nerves not firing properly anymore due to bones in the b...ack being pushed out of alignment. When we restore alignment, we often see fantastic results in pain and restoration of function. Through a functional neuromuscular examination our practitioners will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis and explanation of the causes of your hip pain, thereafter providing the appropriate advice or treatment course to follow. Call our office on 9949 4118 or head to https://www.exmouthwellnesscentre.com.au/ to book a consultation.

21.01.2022 Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the term used for pain, numbness and tingling running into the hand when the median nerve is impinged, most commonly by the carpals, the bones of the wrist. Nerves running into the hand can be impinged at other sites and mimic the symptoms of CTS; other sites of impingement include the neck, shoulder and elbow. If you’re experiencing any numbness, pain or tingling into the hand don’t hesitate to book in with one of our chiropractors who will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis of what’s going on and help get you back on track. 20.01.2022 A useful tool to use anytime there are feelings of overwhelm, stress or anxiety.

13.01.2022 Are you suffering from tension through your neck and shoulders? This is often due to an accumulation of spending long periods of time in forward positions where the head sits in front of the shoulders, forcing the body to work much harder than necessary to maintain that position. Along with the build-up of nerve tension, we often see patients experiencing muscle pain, headaches and jaw pain due to this position. When we adjust the spine with the intention of bringing the hea...d back into alignment with the body, we begin to take away the underlying cause for these symptoms. Through a functional neuromuscular examination our practitioners will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis and explanation of the causes of your symptoms, thereafter providing the appropriate advice or treatment course to follow. 10.01.2022 Beautiful, healthy and delicious muffins for Mum! Although these look so pretty they could be made for any occasion really. What you need:... 4 Eggs 1/2 cup Coconut Butter 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence 250 grams Almond Meal 1 teaspoon Baking Soda 1 teaspoon Baking Powder 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cardamom 1 teaspoon Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger 1/2 cup Raisins Chopped 1 cup Grated Beetroot Icing 2 Egg Yolks 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice 2 tablespoons Honey 2 teaspoons Vanilla Essence 2 tablespoons Beetroot Juice 1 cup Cacao Butter (chopped) What to do: Heat oven to 160C and line a large six-hole muffin tin. Combine the eggs with the coconut butter and vanilla essence and mix until frothy. Mix the almond meal with the baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and ground ginger and then combine with the egg mixing well. Then fold under the chopped raisins and beetroot. Fill the muffin baking tray with the mixture and bake for 30-40 minutes. The muffins will be ready when the tops feel firm. Set aside and let cool before icing. Icing Place a heatproof bowl over the top of a pot containing a little water. Heat until boiling and then turn down to simmer. Whisk the egg yolks with the lemon juice, honey, vanilla essence and beetroot juice until it starts to thicken then add the cacao butter a little at a time. It will take about 5 minutes for the whole of the cacao butter to be dissolved with the egg mixture and it will thicken quite a bit. Let the icing cool to room temperature before applying to the tops of the cooled muffins. Enjoy! Recipe from food52.com

09.01.2022 Spotlight on *Rice* Rice is the most consumed food in the world. Whether its white, brown, black, red, wild, basmati, aborio or jasmine, consumed with a curry, sushi or dahl, there is a rice for everyone! Rice that is high in amylose, such as basmati rice, does not stick together after cooking. Amylose also slows down the digestion of starch and is often associated with resistant starch, a type of healthy fiber that helps feed intestinal bacteria and cells. Rice that has not ...been stripped of its bran (such as brown, black or red) has more fiber than its white friends. On the other hand, rice that is low in amylose and high in amylopectin is sticky after cooking, making it great for asian cooking, chop stick use and easy digestibility, but not so good for blood sugar levels. Most vitamins minerals and other plant components such as lignans are also found in the bran. These include manganese, selenium, magnesium, some B vitamins, copper, phytoestrogens and ferulic acid. The ferulic acid is an antioxidant that has been found to be protective against heart disease, some forms of cancer and diabetes. One of the concerns about eating too much brown rice, is that the concentration of heavy metals in the bran can build up in the body. Buying organic, non polluted brown rice can minimise this. Another concern is that the phytic acid present in the bran can inhibit the uptake of other nutrients in the same meal such as iron and zinc. Phytic acid can be reduced by soaking or sprouting. This also enhances the digestibility of the rice. You can enjoy your rice in so many ways, but one of the best ways is to combine it with legumes in order to make a complete protein rich plant based meal, like our Ayurvedic kitchari dish, which you can find here: https://www.exmouthwellnesscentre.com.au//ayurvedic-kitcha

08.01.2022 Are you suffering from shoulder pain due to the rotator cuff, bursitis or general inflammation and pain? These conditions often occur due to the position the shoulder is sitting in, causing excessive strain on the rotator cuff muscles, tendons or bursae due to altered biomechanics of the joint. When we adjust the spine with the purpose of improving posture, we change the resting position of the shoulder which allows the shoulder to sit in a better position. This changes the ...muscle activation patterns and biomechanics of the joint change entirely, mitigating further damage, allowing for the healing process to begin and inflammation to subside. Through a functional neuromuscular examination our practitioners will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis of the condition, and thereafter provide the appropriate advice or treatment to follow. 02.01.2022 Are you suffering from lower back pain? This could be from various causes, including previous trauma through the area, holding sustained positions for long periods of time or altered movement patterns. All of the above can cause the lower back to be pushed out of place, which places tension on the nervous system often resulting in pain through the area and sometimes into the legs. Through a functional neuromuscular examination our practitioners will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis and explanation of the causes of your symptoms, thereafter providing the appropriate advice or treatment course to follow.
