25.01.2022 "Be part of the choreography of nature and respect the cowness of the cow" Even if you are not in to plants as much as i am this talk from Joel Salatin can help you understand why chosing grass fed meat is better for you and the planet. Do not support meat from a "concentration camp" (he's referring to feed lots)

25.01.2022 Today was a day for seeds. Homemade seed raising mix featuring compost lovingly turned by my chickens and worm castings from the guys in the bath tub. March is going to be fun here! #mygardenprovides #somethingfromnothing #wormfarm #homemade #readyforautumn

25.01.2022 Eggplant I am lucky enough to have an inhouse chef @marcelthomson , i give him my abundant vegetables and he will find a way to make them delicious. Smoked eggplant moussaka, baba ganoush, stir fry thai eggplants, miso glazed, even eggplant crisps. So that was last weekends harvest, shall i tell him he has the same amount again this week? #mygardenprovides #somethingfromnothing #inhousechef #eggplant

24.01.2022 Lacewing eggs After worrying about scale and mealy bug on my indoor plants I was reminded today how truly amazing nature is. In 4 days these eggs will hatch and the larvae will feed on mites, scale, mealy bug and other pests for up to 4 weeks before it becomes the beautiful lacewing. They can even eat 60 aphids an hour. #mygardenprovides #pestmanagement #natureknows #indoorplants

24.01.2022 After planting all the spring seeds we needed some identification markers, so many ways to get the kids loving the garden #plasticfree #somethingfromnothing #craftafternoon

24.01.2022 Morning spent with my hands in the earth, surrounded by my chickens, who were equally as interested in the number of earthworms as i was #soilhealthcard #vegesafe #somethingfromnothing #savoursoilpermaculture

23.01.2022 The magically diverse pigeon pea, not just nitrogen fixing, attracting pollinators, feeding the chickens and creating mulch, it can also be turned in to traditional daal. With fresh curry leaves and homemade naan made by the amazing @marcelthomson #mygardenprovides #somethingfromnothing

22.01.2022 Every day I put the banana peel that comes back from the school lunch box in a jar of water. 48 hours later it is fertiliser and foliar spray for my garden (the peel goes in the compost) Now that's something from nothing!

21.01.2022 Great day looking at design process with inspiring mentors @savour_soil_permaculture @gardenjujucollective @northeystreetcityfarm

21.01.2022 We can do better

20.01.2022 Beyond excited to continue this journey with my incredible mentor

19.01.2022 Pigeon pea - how amazing can one plant be??! I planted this hedge to protect my veggie patch from marauding chickens but recently I discovered how lucky i am to be able to have this all year round. The bees and beneficial insects love the pretty yellow and white flowers, it grows super fast giving me in-situ mulch, chicken food or compost material, it fixes nitrogen, protects my seedlings from harsh wind and sun and now its producing huge amounts of peas which are protein rich and traditionally used to make daal. Recipe coming soon xxx

19.01.2022 Been looking in to the microclimates in my property and the animals that currently visit me, trying to look for all the values and functions, yep value the possum!

18.01.2022 Was privileged to go out on an 80 acre property and help with the design process, matching the site with the wishes of the client. I learnt so much and can't wait to see this project progress.

13.01.2022 Working on my drawing skills today, concept plan, elevation and perspective. Reluctant to use colour just yet, loving the different shades and effects i can achieve with just pen and pencil #oldschool #gardendesign #somethingfromnothing

07.01.2022 Today we met with Jennifer Howard, state member for Ipswich. We spent time discussing some amazing opportunities and possibilities. Just the beginning of some very meaningful conversations....

07.01.2022 Spent the afternoon learning the key rules and ratios for balance and proportion in garden design, but kept finding myself looking at permaculture principle 7- design from patterns to details. The patterns we see in nature are also pleasing to the eye, using them to guide our designs is naturally inviting harmony. How will i marry the rules and principles in my next project? Will there be a herb spiral????#permaculture #gardendesignacadamy #somethingfromnothing

06.01.2022 Working today on mood boards and botanical plant names Client was inspired by Keith Wiley's English garden but I've brought it home with native grasses, native violets and rosemary, kangaroo paws for some drama and my feature trees of golden penda and golden wattle. I won't embarrass myself with the botanical names yet.... #somethingfromnothing #stilllearning #lovinglatin See more

06.01.2022 Very excited for this one

05.01.2022 180,000l of water falls on my roof in average rainfall and we are about to experience El Nina rainfall events!!!! After this weeks PDC session on water and beginning a household audit of our water use we are getting ready for our new tank and thinking of all the other ways we can be using and slowing the water that runs through our property #somethingfromnothing #bananacircle #permaculture #mygardenprovides

04.01.2022 When studying plant cells and reliving high school science, I reverted to a teenage version of myself doodling cartoons and procrastinating #plantcell #somethingfromnothing #comicscience #stopprocrastinating

04.01.2022 My new morning ritual is appreciating the diverse creatures in my garden and trying to see the good in all of them #assassinbug #ladybirds #somethingfromnothing #mygardenprovides

01.01.2022 Spending this rainy Saturday afternoon listening to a very wise man. To be able to face such a heartbreaking mistake in your career, but to continue, find the solution and show us the way is simply inspiring.
