Think about a time when someone tried to convince you of something you didn't believe in - do you think... by saying it over and over to yourself that would make it true? I think..... NO The only AFFIRMATIONS that will work are the ones you already believe to be true about yourself. Why is this important? The affirmations working for others are probably something they already believe to be true about themselves on some level - so they work. There are things you could affirm about yourself and succeed at that others couldn't. It doesn't make you right or wrong JUST DIFFERENT Tag a friend who might need a little boost on their self-awareness journey

19.01.2022 In these uncertain times it is natural for us to focus on survival. In uncertainty, survival can become the number one thing that directs our subconscious and therefore our behaviours. When we are facing a threatening situation, like COVID-19, our innate fight and flight mechanism will kick in and we change our focus and behaviour to a trauma neurology rather than a living neurology. Flight and Fight is an instinctive response and once we are in it, it’s very hard to change... it. This helps explain why people are hoarding and stockpiling food and supplies, it is their survival instinct kicking in. We are not making excuses for these seemingly selfish behaviours but it’s important to create an understanding around them. People who have a trust in self to respond to a threatening situation appropriately will be looking for ways to adapt to the current situation and not be so fearful in the face of something unknown. People motivated by fear and an absence of self-trust are not able to make rational decisions as they are focussing on the perceived threat. This is just as real to our neurology as an actual threat. When we are in fight flight state and on alert we will naturally see more threats than we would normally see in a living state. Anxiety is created when we don’t trust that we will be able to keep ourselves safe in the future and because things are changing at such a rapid pace a lot of people are feeling very uncertain about what will come next and that’s when the panic starts. Impulse control, and often compassion, goes out the window as the focus shifts to doing whatever you can to survive. The good news is that people have already started to adapt. If you sit back and take a look at the positive behaviours, you will notice these adaptations. People who are focusing on solutions rather than fear are making better decisions for themselves, their family and friends and the wider community. They are working out ways to help everyone move through these challenging times. If we all take a breath, step back from fear and remain as calm as possible we will see this situation for what it really is fear and lack of self-trust which locks us into survival behaviours. We should all start focusing on adapting to our current reality using our innate resources rather than being so motivated by fear. The reasons for the constant changes we are seeing in our society at the moment are to lessen the spread of the virus not because it is dangerous to the vast majority of the population but because we all need to absolutely protect the most vulnerable people in our community. You have what it takes to get through this we all do.
