23.01.2022 One of the silver linings of 2020 is that 'Zoom' has now become part of our vernacular. Prior to mid-2020 I'd offer parent webinars and there were often questio...ns about what a webinar is, how it's delivered, would parents attend (wouldn't they much prefer an in-person event)? Fast-forward to the end of 2020 and Zoom is now part of our common vocabulary. This year I've had record numbers of parents (carers and educators) attend webinars. There are so many benefits for time-poor parents. With a webinar, you no longer have to organise a baby-sitter (or send 10 SMS reminders to your partner that they need to be home before 6:30pm so you can head back to school for a parent seminar... that seemed like a good idea 3 weeks ago). With a webinar you don't have to put on a bra (or shoes) and you can attend live wearing your PJs and having a cuppa (or a or ) while you watch the webinar. And best of all, with the webinars I deliver, I always provide a recording so now BOTH parents can hear the same message (and not just the parent who attended the seminar). That's why I'm offering two webinars to help parents of primary and secondary school students navigate the digital world. 22.01.2022 Every year our Community at Explore & Develop Brookvale collects items for the Salvation Army to make up Hampers and gifts. This year we are so very proud to be doing this again. We would like to put it out there to the greater community. If you would like to donate please drop off to Explore & Develop Brookvale 122-126 Old Pittwater Road. This year the Salvation Army has suggested teenage items as something that is very much needed. We are low on teenage boy gifts to date. Pick up will be Friday 11 December. Thank you in advance

15.01.2022 To celebrate NAIDOC Week Explore and Develop Brookvale welcomed Aunty Caroline and Aunty Karleen, who shared with us the story of Gawurra and Goolay'yari, The Whale and The Pelican, from Aunty Fran Bodkin. We used this story as inspiration for our Weaving Project, with the children working with Aunty Caroline and Aunty Karleen to help create Gawarra The Whale, as well as an octopus and traditional talking sticks. #NAIDOCWeek2020 #northernbeacheslocal #Brookvale
