23.01.2022 Our little Explorers were very lucky to have a special guest this week. Childrens author Bianca Ross read her new book Herbert Peabody and the Funky Fruit Book. It was a fun & interactive experience where children enjoyed the rhyming of the words in the book, meeting Bianca & seeing their friends all via Zoom. ... Bianca also showed us how to make a fruit pizza by using some of the fruits from the book. Our Kingfishers and Red Gums at Explorers Surrey Hills enjoyed their healthy afternoon tea by making their very own fruit pizzas.

18.01.2022 NAIDOC Week's 2020 theme is 'Always Was, Always Will Be.' In celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples achievements, our Kingfishers were inspired to create yarn sticks to make a mobile for our classroom.

18.01.2022 Our Red Gums & Kingfishers at Explorers Early Learning Brighton East came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week, interacting & reading 'Wilam, A Birrarung Story' by Aunty Joy Murphy & Andrew Kelly. Our little Explorers placed symbolic Indigenous stones along the winding shape of Birrarung (Yarra River). The stones created a visual representation of the story as the children placed them one after the other. By the end of the story we could see the animals and plants that liv...e along Birrarung. We saw that the land is important to all living things and that it is Wilam (home) to many.

Each team was sent a package with wooden dolls and circles with an Indigenous symbols chart. ... The results are beautiful! Were proud of our teams leadership skills, passion & their creativity in making their own Indigenous learning resources.

05.01.2022 Our Gumnuts are enjoying outdoor play at Explorers Early Learning Williams Landing. Outdoor play is beneficial for improving motor skills & building muscle strength. Through open ended outdoor play, our little Gumnuts increase their appreciation for the environment & it encourages peer-to-peer relationships.

04.01.2022 Extending on their animals around the world project , our Wattles enjoyed reading I Wonder Why The Sea Is Salty by Anita Ganeri. Our Wattles created their own interpretations of what lies beneath the sea using white pastels, pencils and crayons. Once they finished drawing, they painted blues waves over their pages to discover their magic paradise under the sea.

01.01.2022 Our little Explorers are playing in our sand pit at Explorers Nunawading using buckets, spades & construction trucks to create their sand pit masterpiece. This a great way for children to build a number of different skills, both physical and social. Sand play is very tactile, helping children learn about textures & develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
