Please see further details in posted images or below . @specialized_jo via Instagram #VisitSnowyValleys #ComeFindUs #LoveNSW #HolidayHereThisYear ********************** What is open in the Yarrangobilly Caves precinct in Kosciuszko National Park? South Glory Cave (self-guided) - OPEN (9.30am 4pm) Bookings essential Guided Tours - CLOSED BBQ’s - OPEN* Caves House Accommodation - CLOSED* Visitor Centre - OPEN (9am 5pm) Walking Tracks - OPEN Lookouts - OPEN Thermal Pool - OPEN Toilets/ Amenities - OPEN Cave Loop Road - OPEN Entrance Road - OPEN Exit Road - OPEN Show Caves: Self-guided cave is open while guided tours are commencing shortly. We will keep you updated as we know more. From NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service: Many of our visitors are cave enthusiasts who are eager to get back into nature to explore the many caves at Yarrangobilly. We are working to make our caves as safe as possible for all visitors to enjoy. This involves developing a covid safe plan. Following a risk assessment our self-guided cave, South Glory, has now reopened for visitors to enjoy. This cave is open from 9:30am -4pm daily and the following safety measures have been implemented: 1. Bookings are essential and can be pre- purchased online at; https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au//yarrangobilly-south- 2. Visitors to the cave must practice physical distancing by staying 1.5 metres away from people who are not from their household and are encouraged to wear a personal face mask. 3. Visitors must not attend if they have respiratory symptoms or fever (>37.5C) even if symptoms are mild and will be advised to seek testing immediately and self-quarantine off-site. We understand that caving enthusiasts will be disappointed that we cannot reinstate access to guided caves at this time, but our first priority is public health and safety. However, we are working to develop our COVID Safe plans and hope to have guided tours running again shortly. Your patience is appreciated. *Picnic Area/BBQ’s: Walk in access only, partially repaired The vehicle bridge over Rules Creek and our key BBQ areas were damaged by bushfire in January 2020. The BBQ’s are operating again but the bridge is still damaged, so access is a 200m walk from the parking area. The bridge is due for reinstatement in December 2020. *Caves House Accommodation: Partially reopening December 2020 NPWS follows the advice and requirements of NSW Health regarding the provision of visitor services (including accommodation) during the c-19 epidemic. Our commercial accommodation is currently booked by a private contractor, however in the coming months accommodation will be available from the following dates: Lyrebird Cottage from 4th December 2020. 1901 East and West wings from 12th February 2021. 1917 Guest Rooms from 10th May 2021 All accommodation can be booked using the NPWS website or this link https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au//p/yarrangobilly-area Rainfall events: May result in temporary closure of tracks and trails The fire which swept through the caves precinct was extensive and hard burning, and as a result the vegetation in the area was denuded. Whilst regrowth occurs the hillside areas around the precinct may experience instability as a result of a heavy rainfall event. As result we have enacted a Rainfall Closure policy essentially if rainfall within a 24-hour period exceeds 20mm there will be a temporary closure of all tracks. This policy will impact access to all walking tracks and closure of the following areas: - Thermal pool and thermal pool access road and walking tracks - River Walk track - South Glory track and self-guided cave - Bluff Walk - Castle Cave track Jersey and Jillabenan loop road, access/exit roads to/from the caves precinct and the visitor centre will remain open. This rainfall policy will be reviewed in March 2021. For further information please visit https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au//p/yarrangobilly-area

17.01.2022 Brrr it's cold in there! Workers during the construction era had to work in extreme conditions. Cofferdams like this one held back water to allow for work to be... completed with reduced streamflow. In extremely icy water, work could range from preparing foundations to clearing big boulders from river beds like this guy! #fromthearchives #flashbackfriday #snowyscheme
14.01.2022 It's a white out up at Cabramurra today! We are happy to see some more snow falling in the mountains with more falls expected this weekend.

12.01.2022 Meet Charlie! When he arrived in Australia from Italy, the one word that came to mind was abundance - there was plenty of everything. For Charlie, as the years ...passed, working on the Snowy was about giving something back to his new country. He’s very proud of his contribution to the Snowy Scheme, and even prouder that his granddaughter now works for the same company he spent many happy years working for. Watch Charlie’s Snowy story below.

04.01.2022 Tagged Rainbow Trout Yearlings for Blowering Dam! One thousand yearling Rainbow Trout have been stocked into Blowering Dam as part of a long-term stocking strat...egy to combat predation from redfin and to provide information on survival and growth. The fish were produced at DPI’s Gaden Trout Hatchery and range from 150mm to 230mm. Blowering is a fantastic native and trout fishery and finding the best size for stocking in the presence of redfin will help to maintain the dam as a great mixed fishery. Recreational fishers who land one of these trout will be rewarded with a Wigston Tassie Devil lure prize in return for their capture information. This information received will help determine survival and growth rates of Rainbow Trout and can be lodged on https://bit.ly/35DSvsa This release is part of our tag recapture program which includes tagged fish releases into Oberon Dam, Lake Lyell, Lake Wallace, Carcoar Dam and Khancoban Pondage. This is another great example of your licence fees at work! Photo credit Rhys Creed.
