21.01.2022 Spring! Hello! We've been waiting for you! Here's to exploring in the lovely spring sunshine when the mornings are still fresh and the evenings crisp, but the day is sun-soaked and ripe for getting outside. . @the_georgie_james #exploreyackandandah #yackandandah #seehighcountry #visitvictoria #australia #shortwalkswithastory

14.01.2022 A brief history of Yackandandah, told in three parts as we walk around the banks of Allan’s Flat Reserve. 3/3 -Yackandandah township flourished and declined as the times dictated. The effect of the economic depression of the 1930’s, and the wars were felt as it was across Australia. The memorial gardens reflect the participation of the community in various global conflicts. Buildings such as the Public Hall, the churches, the Athenaeum, the Courthouse, demonstrate a history ...of community working, growing and playing together. 09.01.2022 'He' looms over Yackandandah and the Kiewa Valley at 1140m above sea level. Say g'day to Mount Big Ben when you're here next, he's quite impressive! And with the weather forecast predicted 'he' might also be wearing a white coat by the end of this week. #yackandandah #exploreyackandandah #mountains #seehighcountry #letitsnow #wemissyou #holidayherethisyear

06.01.2022 Birds on a wire have a birds-eye view of this cute 'Yack' cottage. - A postcard from Yack to you, to say we miss you. #exploreyackandandah #seehighcountry #australiancottages #cutecottage

06.01.2022 When you're next in Yackandandah, take a short pleasant drive to Kiewa and Tangambalanga- two villages that shoulder the dependable Kiewa River. You'll pass through rolling green hills dotted with cattle and sheep, and in winter you'll see the snow-capped Victorian Alps in the distance. Make a beautiful drive even better by stopping for ice cream at the Kiewa General Store or by popping in for a cold brew at the Tangam Hotel. Cheers! #yackandandah #kiewa #tangambalanga #exploreyackandandah #seehighcountry

05.01.2022 What’s in a name? Yack-an-dan-dah. - It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, and the locals have shorted it fondly to ‘Yack’ in true Aussie fashion, but have you thought about where the name comes from? . .... Yackandandah is Jiatmathang country. The Aboriginal word for the Yackandandah area is Dhudhuroa and to the Dhudhuroa people Yackandandah means one boulder on top of another at the junction of two creeks. - The name of this place was given long before the gold rush and early settlers, and while it’s a bit tricky to pronounce, it’s wonderful that the original name of an ancient land still remains. #yackandandah #exploreyackandandah #seehighcountry #visitvictoria

01.01.2022 If it's a sunny day where you are, then pull a chair up in the sun and read 'The Bright Sparks of Yackandandah', a lovely article from the team at Patagonia who chat to a few Yack locals about our sunny corner in the Victorian High Country and how a community-minded approach to energy can help create a sustainable and sunny future for our town. #yackandandah #solar #nature #communitylove
