23.01.2022 The cable glute-kickback: such an awesome way to isolate the glutes and work both the moving leg, and the stabilising non-moving leg. It’s a seemingly straight-forward exercise, however it is quite difficult to perform correctly, and so that you get the maximum ‘bang for your buck’: here are my tips: Make sure the stabilising leg is bent as you will get a burn from it as well as the ‘working’ leg: don’t round your back: your back should not be moving or doing the work. The... movement/power comes from your glutes and your back should not round as the keg comes back in: Don’t rush them! Muscles under load for longer is more conducive to what you are trying to achieve: the movement should always be smooth and not jerky: Mind muscle connection!! Ask any of my Exquisites but I’m always nagging about this. It DOES make a difference: think about the muscles your working (I even sometimes tap it or hold it depending what the exercise is): Visualise it doing the work and actually growing while you are working it. Your core is like a tree trunk: It is your stabilising centre and you need to work on activating it to be engaged while your doing resistance exercises: this will help protect your back. Hold on for support so you can go heavier without losing form: Fully extend the leg at the back: aim for length and not height, squeezing your glute the whole time: Once you’ve mastered these, you can do other things with the ankle cuff and cable machine like leg extensions and curtsy taps and play with the tempo. If you don’t have access to this machine, you could also use a resistance band secured against a pole or tree or in a 4 point kneeling position using a band around your foot. 21.01.2022 Ummmm how did this happen? Somehow during ‘tweens Bootcamp ’ good old Harry got his super cute Mumma to do his sled laps...with him on top!! I witness so many bonding moments between kids and parents in my studio...whether it be a quick blow of a kiss to a little toddler watching the workout from above in the crèche, a secret smile between tweens and their Mum or Dad, a word of encouragement from a parent to their kid during kids’ bootcamp, a look of total admiration on a chi...ld’s face when they see Mum or Dad doing extraordinary things in the gym...they nat seem little, but they are priceless memories. 21.01.2022 One of the main comments that potential clients often make to me, after watching some of the snippets of our classes is....’they all look SO fit and SO strong: I’m just nowhere near doing what they are doing and I’m not sure I’ll keep up/feel silly/be able to do any of that!!’ What they may not see/know is that: a huge portion of my clients have been training with me for a number of years and consistently attend 3-6 sessions per week: every single client of mine has beco...me a powerful training machine gradually, over time, with extremely hard-work and dedication...and by being surrounded by an incredibly embracing Studio of clients who not only welcome them, but embrace them. These same advanced clients were the same ones asking me when they started whether they would be too unfit/embarrassed if they got the courage to attend a session: the trainer spends time talking through and demonstrating all of the exercises and the format of the program at the start of the session. Low-impact and alternative options for injuries/newbies are always given (and reiterated privately if needed). 99% of my strongest and fittest girls couldn’t do a full push-up (or 9/10’s if what they do now) when they started with me. All of the above clients also trusted in the process and despite every single session hurting (because, yes, I’m not going to lie: to get results you need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable) they made a promise to themselves that they would see it through and gradually, they started looking forward to their sessions and seeing their fellow Exquisites. So-the bottom line is this. How badly do you want a change? Are you truly committed to doing what it takes? Because you only get one life, one body and one family to be happy and energetic for and sometimes,...you just need to make a commitment to yourself that you want a change, for whatever reason: and don’t waiver from your decision ever...and then find a supportive space that will give you that opportunity. I’ve said this a zillion times, but it’s absolutely incredible how much our actions and lifestyle influence and inspire our children. Oscar has been coming to Exquisite with his gorgeous Mummy since he was a tiny bubba: watching her get fit: watching her give everything in every session she attends: watching her push through when she’s only had a few hours of sleep: watching her make t...ime for herself, for just herself, even if it’s 45 minutes a day a few times per week...not to mention his Dad coming along too sometimes and supporting Mum in this vital part of being a parent: to make time, somehow, to focus on just you, and be an adult: and converse with adults, and be the fittest, healthiest and happiest version of yourself: so that you can then go home and be the best Mummy you can be. My lovely, fit Mum, @my_lense_photography , sent me a photo of her cute 2021 diary (only she would be organised enough to already have a 2021 diary), with one of our gorgeous new @exquisitefitness stickers taking front and centre place on the inside cover: she said that every time she opens her diary, it reminds her to keep up her swimming and walking This is a perfect way to remind our subconscious of why fitness and health is important to us: so that on the rare day you may not feel like it, that little sign is enough to help us push through. Do you have any ways to help self-motivate you and remind you of your goals?

18.01.2022 Look at all of these gorgeous, happy, healthy, EXCITED faces!!!! Another 6 week challenge completed and wait until you hear some of the results!!! One of my girls lost 9kg of body fat!!! In 6 weeks! I cant reveal much more until the awards presentation but you are going to be blown away. Anddd call me crazy, but I’m going to do one more Challenge for the year, commencing in 3 weeks (Saturday 24th October). It’s not a long time to organise it so if you want one more chance to feel and look your BEST this Christmas, tell me ASAP as I have to make sure there’s enough interest! 17.01.2022 Check out this strong chick! Kali did all 40 of her box jumps today on the highest level! That’s some amazing agility and power. No matter what life throws at Kali, she has always prioritised her training and over the (many) years with me, she has continued to push her limits and trust in the process and guidance of the Exquisite trainers. 07.01.2022 I love our new @exquisitefitness ‘trainer singlets’ that @lindamarsden and I are ‘modelling’. Ok I probably should have had the photos taken NOT straight after a workout, but they look great with the new logo I developed together with Trish from Scarab Blue Design when I moved into the studio over 18 months ago. 06.01.2022 Annnnd this is the price you pay for a complete week off workouts and heaps of indulgence! This is me basically collapsing in my workouts today and Linda took great joy in taking these One thing I am a true believer in, is LIFE BALANCE!! I work super hard in the studio, and eat really well during the week, but I thoroughly enjoy some treats on the weekend: and especially on holidays. Barring being on a challenge or having a particular goal, I just think life should be about... true balance and enjoying whatever it is you enjoy. I’m sometimes a bit shocked when other personal trainers talk about the importance of a balanced lifestyle and reveal that they indulge in a couple of glasses of red wine during the year, or have a cheat meal once per month. I just don’t think that’s a sustainable lifestyle, especially not for those people who are just starting on their fitness journey and may feel a little judged or intimidated by this. 01.01.2022 Wow!! What a whirlwind end to the craziest year ever!! We had the kiddies and tweens Christmas celebration, the end of the Corporate 6 week Challenge we ran for Rizon insurance company, the end of the Exquisite challenge number 24, the adults’ Chrissy party, and the conclusion of the @ellendaleupperkedron yoga sessions in the park! PhewI believe most of us will gladly say goodbye to 2020: despite the closure of my amazing studio for three months, I am forever grateful for ...my members’ loyalty, for their stoicism in embracing zoom classes to help preserve their sanity and for their trust in coming back to the studio when we re-opened: I think it became clearer than ever how absolutely vital the studio and its sessions are for our mental and physical health. I’m so incredibly proud to have not only survived the closure, but to be busier than ever. There is just no substitute for the community at @exquisitefitness , the friendships, the vibe, the support, the understanding and the personal approach...not to mention how effective the actual sessions are. So, from the bottom of my heart: thank you to every one of you who supported Exquisite Fitness in any way in 2020 and let’s keep on smashing those 2021 goals The gym will officially re-open on the 11th January, with a few skeleton classes running next week.
