The sutures have been removed, scar management and range of motion exercises are underway. Mary has been an exemplary patient!

There are various causes of this syndrome. Symptoms may include: Tingling and numbness in the fingers and the palm of your hand, like pins and needles; Pain in your wrist or hand, which can radiate up the arm to your elbow or down to your fingers; Pain that ranges from a dull aching sensation to a burning feeli...ng, or a sharp, shooting pain similar to a cramp. A feeling of weakness in your hands or a loss of grip strength, making it difficult to carry out everyday tasks. A Hand Therapist may assist in assessing the cause as well as providing treatment to alleviate your symptoms. Treatment may include rest, activity modification and splinting. 03.01.2022 Arthritis (OA) affecting PIP joints can result in pain, loss of movement and function. Surgical advances include hemi-joint resurfacing with a pyrocarbon implant. This is proving successful for even the Index finger that is more susceptible to lateral forces and loading. However therapy needs to be tailor-made and specific in order to maintain good alignment. The protocol for these implants was developed by Wilma Walsh at Extend Rehab, in conjunction with Dr. Mark Ross and is now recognised and followed world-wide.
