25.01.2022 A work of wonder

25.01.2022 In out-of-the-way places of the heart, Where your thoughts never think to wander, This beginning has been quietly forming, Waiting until you were ready to emerge.... For a long time it has watched your desire, Feeling the emptiness growing inside you, Noticing how you willed yourself on, Still unable to leave what you had outgrown. It watched you play with the seduction of safety And the grey promises that sameness whispered. Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent, Wondered would you always live like this. Then, the delight when your courage kindled, And out you stepped onto new ground, Your eyes young again with energy and dream, A path of plenitude opening before you. Though your destination is not yet clear You can trust the promise of this opening; Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning That is at one with your lifes desire. Awaken your spirit to adventure; Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk; Soon you will be home in a new rhythm, For your soul senses the world that awaits you. John ODonohue Irish poet & philospher

14.01.2022 Dear Seeker, as very young children we lived in an energy state of curiosity and creativity (alpha and theta wave) for most of our waking hours. New connection making and understandings about the world and life and how it all works happened apace. As more and more ready-made answers were patterned in place in the brain as habits and beliefs and knowledge, much of our daily life rolled over into automatic.... In the process the original full spectrum of possibilities and potentials was closed off. This doesn’t mean that the possibilities and potentials no longer exist. It doesn’t mean that we are no longer capable of making new connections (of course not!) and of being in that magical new connection making flow state called creativity. What can be missing is the realisation that, as an adult, you have to actively choose creativity and know how to break free from, slip past, elements of existing brain patterning that are effectively cramping your style and soul. Already over 3,700 people have reconnected with a creative self that for most had not run wild and free since childhood. Why not come to a Free Introductory Workshop? hear some practical information about the mechanics of the brain and how to work with it so that you can tune into your creativity more deliberately and deeply than adults usually can and see how to get your own new creativity adventure started? 12.01.2022 "This is meditating with my eyes open! So cool! I have never been able to meditate." ... a common response by participants in Extraordinary Mind Project workshops and courses. (INFORMATIVE, FUN, PERCEPTION-SHIFTING, FREE workshops coming up in April.*See below.) ARTICLE IN WASHINGTON POST Why making art is the new meditation, by Maia Gambis gives four reasons why creative activity is such a potent recipe for psychological well-being: ... 1. Art is a vehicle for meditation and SELF-CONNECTION. 2. Art provides a feeling of FLOW AND FREEDOM. Similar to meditation, art can help us tap into a DEEPER AND MORE QUIET part of ourselves. 3. Art allows for TRUE SELF-EXPRESSION. The process of making art overrides the need for verbal communication. Creativity is its own language and enables humans to connect with one another and themselves on a non-verbal level. 4. Art helps us become STEADY AND CENTRED. [Less reactive; more creative in life.] See Maia Gambis' full article here: https://wapo.st/2xnvHO4. 10.01.2022 Right now: There are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness. Someone you haven’t met yet is already dreaming of adoring you. T W E E T Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life. Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God’s children. A f...armer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, nourish them. Someone wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you. Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favourite food is, and treat you to a movie. Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give youfor free. Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on. The next great song is being rehearsed. Thousands of people are doing yoga right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth. Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way. Someone is in profound pain, and a few months from now, they’ll be thriving like never before. They just can’t see it from where they’re at. Someone who is craving to be partnered, to be acknowledged, to ARRIVE, will get precisely what they wantand even more. And because that gift will be so fantastical in its reach and sweetness, it will quite magically alter their memory of angsty longing and render it all So worth the wait. Someone has recently cracked open their joyous, genuine nature because they did the hard work of hauling years of oppression off of their psychethis luminosity is floating in the ether, and is accessible to everyone. Someone, just this second, wished for world peace, in earnest. Someone is fighting the fight so that you don’t have to. Some civil servant is making sure that you get your mail, and your garbage is picked up, that the trains are running on time, and that you are generally safe. Someone is dedicating their days to protecting your civil liberties and clean drinking water. Someone is regaining their sanity. Someone is coming back from the dead. Someone is genuinely forgiving the seemingly unforgivable. Someone is curing the incurable. YOU. ME. SOME. ONE. NOW. ~ Danielle LaPorte. The Manifesto of Encouragement

08.01.2022 One of 4 important questions: When did you stop dancing? "In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: When did you stop dancing?... When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?" ~ Gabielle Roth See more

DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN THE CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS brain could help unlock creativity, says Jan Cross of the Extraordinary Mind Project. Inspired by her own childs creative flair, Ms Cross wanted to know why the creative parts of many peo...ples brains switch off in adulthood. She spent some time developing a program to help re-harness creativity and reconnect with the joys of childhood. Free workshops Ms Cross founded the Extraordinary Mind Project, running workshops that use drawing to unlock inner creativity. We need to train the brain to focus on the present and get out of pre-existing pathways in order to see things freshly, Ms Cross says. All we need to do is know how to pose questions to the brain that stop it in its patterned tracks. She says this helps people view things with greater detail, and not worry about the big picture. Ms Cross says more than 3,700 people have been through her course, which also increases confidence and improves concentration. One participant, Kerry Nunn, says the project helped her to publish a book since recommended by Curtin University. The project is not just about drawing; drawing just helps you see the results more quickly, she says. The project, running since 2006, offers six different types of workshops. Ms Cross holds free 2.5 hour workshops. 05.01.2022 Henry Miller, writer... describing the transformation he saw in himself when he first started painting... "The most familiar things, objects which I had gazed at all my life, now became an unending source of wonder, and with the wonder, of course, affection. A tea pot, an old hammer, or chipped cup, whatever came to hand I looked upon as if I had never seen it before. I hadnt, of course. Do not most of us go through life blind, deaf, insensitive? Now as I studied the object...s physiognomy, its texture, its way of speaking, I entered into its life, its history, its purpose, its association with other objects, all of which only endeared it the more Have you ever noticed that the stones one gathers at the beach are grateful when we hold them in our hands and caress them? Do they not take on a new expression? An old pot loves to be rubbed with tenderness and appreciation. So with an axe: kept in good condition, it always serves its master lovingly." More words of wisdom and charming paintings in article.

02.01.2022 Steve Jobs on meditation: If you just sit and observe, you will see how restless your mind is. If you try to calm it, it only makes it worse, but over time it does calm, and when it does, there’s room to hear more subtle things that’s when your intuition starts to blossom and you start to see things more clearly and be in the present more. Your mind just slows down, and you see a tremendous expanse in the moment.... You see so much more than you could see before. This quote is from Steve Jobs, by Walter Isaacson. For 6 simple steps put together by Geoffrey James, one of Steve Jobs’ close friends see article: The 6 Step Brain Exercise Steve Jobs Used To Boost Creativity! by Bugler. See more
