09.01.2022 Ever wondered what it's like to look through the eyes of someone who has myopia? Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see objects near to you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry. Real bummer when you're trying to find your towel on the beach Fortunately this condition can be corrected with glasses, or contact lenses, and if caught early enough it's progression can even be slowed down Myopia often starts around or just before ...puberty and can continue to progress well into adulthood, with some adults experiencing myopia for the first in their 40’s (this is different to the normal near vision problems that anniversaries of your 40th birthday sometimes produce!). Myopia is associated with intense close-work. Daily outdoor activity is associated with decreased severity of the myopia. There is often a strong family history of myopia. 15% chance if one parent is myopic, over 50% if both are myopic. Regular contact lenses and single vision glasses do nothing to stop myopia from getting worse. Be sure to have regular eye tests to check for myopia and other visual disorders.
08.01.2022 Let's talk about cataracts! A cataract is a clouding of the clear lens in the eye and is one of the leading causes of vision impairment. While cataracts most commonly occur in those who are older, they can develop in younger people as well. The symptoms of advanced cataract are:... Blurred vision Glare sensitivity Distortion or double vision in the affected eye A feeling of looking through a dirty shower screen When symptoms first begin to appear, vision may be improved through the use of new glasses, or appropriate lighting and/or other visual aids. In more advanced cases, cataract surgery is very successful in restoring vision. Have you had your eyes checked for cataracts lately?
