15.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK 2020 Covid has not dampened NAIDOC Week Celebrations for the City of Casey’s Aboriginal Gathering Place in Doveton. Despite all events being held remotely, the community centre has still been able to participate in the festivities by having children create a personalised handmade spoon that culturally represents who they are, to add to the colourful ‘Spoonville’ Garden. ... Complete with its own mini Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island flags, a scar tree and marquees, the Gathering Place’s Spoonville community has brightened up the neighbourhood and ensured that everyone has had an opportunity to participate in NAIDOC Week 2020. Even our local Multicultural Liaison Unit were invited to add their own Spoonville police officer to the community, led by the centre’s Business Support Officer Kelly Mills and Aboriginal Youth Case Manager & Mentor Motu Ese, pictured here with our Southern Metropolitan Region’s Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, Stewart Taylor. 09.01.2022 SCHOOLIES 2020! An awkward conversation with your kids now could save a lot of drama in the long run. Our message to parents or a loved one of a school leaver is to have open, frank conversations.... Talk to them about the risks involved with excessive consumption of alcohol, taking drugs and encourage them to say no to peer pressure and risky behaviour. Make sure you know where they will be staying, and who they will be staying with, and they have all the right contact details in case they need help. Encourage them to have their mobile on them in case of an emergency and so they can contact their friends if they lose them. Most of all - Tell them to call 000 if they get into any dramas. See more

03.01.2022 86KMH OVER THE SPEED LIMIT Early this morning the Greater Dandenong Highway patrol detected a vehicle travelling at 166KMH in an 80KMH zone. Sometimes it pays not to be the fastest one in a drag race. It also pays not to drag race at all, especially when we are there and have our laser pointed directly at you!... Another first date unfortunately not with a new partner, but a magistrate this time. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days costing $1038. The driver will be charged for being 86KMH over the posted speed limit and driving at a dangerous speed. The pair in vehicle ended the night with an unplanned walk home.

02.01.2022 Victoria Police would like to wish a happy Diwali to those celebrating the Festival of Lights.
