25.01.2022 COLLISION REPORT; Friday 18th of December 2020; A 27-year-old male driver was very fortunate to escape serious injury when his car left Mountain Hwy, Sassafras ...and plunged down an incline. The vehicle, which did not belong to him and was uninsured, was extensively damaged and had to be recovered with a tow truck. Police have ruled out drugs and alcohol. 23.01.2022 On the 04/12/20 Warragul Police Station were lucky to get a visit from a member of the Warragul Scout Group, East Tarago Venture Unit. The group were taking part in a scavenger hunt and had to find the 'strangest place' to set up a tent and take a photo.

20.01.2022 Drouin Police wish to speak to the driver of a vehicle who picked up a hitchhiker on the Princes Highway near Longwarry on June 28 at approximately 4:00am. The hitchhiker is a person of interest in relation to an ongoing investigation, and is described as being in his 40s, Caucasian, stocky build clean shaven, with receding grey hair. A significant quantity of Cigarettes were stolen at the time. 18.01.2022 BUSINESSESS BEWARE There have recently been groups of between 3 to 6 youths involved in thefts and credit card deceptions committed in Warragul and Traralgon. These incidents have been committed when these groups attend mainly however not limited to sports stores and liquor outlets during daytime hours. The incidents involve one or more persons distracting staff in a shop during a purchase using a stolen credit card or card with no funds available. Other offenders within... the group then distract the shop keeper while the first offender steals the selected items from the store. It is after the offenders have left that the store owner realises the credit card purchase was declined. Police want shop owners to be vigilant and alert if a suspect groups of youths enter their businesses and call police immediately.

17.01.2022 The offenders approached a 90-year-old occupant and made demands for money before assaulting him and knocking him unconscious. The house was ransacked, and it is unknown what has been stolen at this stage. The male victim was transported to hospital and remains in a stable condition. Bushwalkers located his unoccupied vehicle at a bush track in Trida about 4.50PM on 16 January. Police and SES conducted searches of the area but have been unable to locate Stuart. ... The 58-year-old is an experienced camper and often goes without contact for long periods of time. Police are investigating whether Stuart attended a service station in Mornington Peninsula Fwy, Baxter at about 4.50pm on 5 January. He is described as Caucasian in appearance, with blue eyes and grey/light brown balding hair. 15.01.2022 Police and PSOs conduct regular patrols of the Gippsland rail corridor from Pakenham to Bairnsdale. These daily patrols are performed by police and PSOs in uniform and plain clothes who are looking to ensure that everyone is adhering to the Chief Health Officer directions. In particular, they are focused on passengers who are travelling from metropolitan Melbourne. A number of infringement notices have been issued as a result. 10.01.2022 A man has died after being shot by police in Drouin this morning. Police were initially called to the intersection of Baths Road and Strzelecki Highway at Mirboo North to reports of an armed carjacking about 7.40am. Investigators have been told a man armed with a knife made threats to a man before stealing his silver Audi station wagon.... Police then received reports of a vehicle, believed to be the stolen Audi, driving erratically in the Drouin area shortly before 9am. Responding police attempted to stop the car before it was involved in a collision. During the highly dynamic incident it is believed the male produced an edged weapon and was shot by police. The man has since died. The investigation is in its infancy, detectives from the Homicide Squad will investigate to determine the exact circumstances on behalf of the Coroner, which will be oversighted by Professional Standards Command, as per standard protocol when a police firearm is discharged. 08.01.2022 One passenger, a 29-year-old Corio man, was issued an infringement notice for possessing a controlled weapon. The second passenger, a 31-year-old Warragul man, was arrested and charged with multiple offences including possess drug of dependence, possess proceeds of crime and committing offences whilst on bail. Whilst committing the offences, the men were also found to be in breach of the directions of the Chief Health Officer and were each issued penalty notices.

07.01.2022 In total, over 500 cannabis plants, a large quantity of dried cannabis and cash was seized. The value of the seizure is estimated to be $1.5 million dollars. The arrests form part of an ongoing operation to disrupt a major organised drug syndicate cultivating and trafficking cannabis.

04.01.2022 Warragul Detectives are seeking information regarding an unprovoked serious assault on a 34 year old female victim. At approximately 1.45am on Saturday the 29th August, 2020 the victim was attacked by a female offender outside a block of units situated at 57 Latrobe Street, Warragul. During the attack the victim was stabbed on multiple occasions and she sustained serious internal injuries requiring surgery. The victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. The offender is described as being female, aged in her late teens to mid 20s, tanned or dark complexion, approximately 155-165cm tall and wearing blue jeans and a jacket or jumper. Investigators believe that a number of persons have witnessed the attack and they urge those people to contact Crime stoppers or Warragul CIU on 56227111.

02.01.2022 On Thursday the 2nd July, 2020, a Hyosung 650 GTR motorbike was parked in the north east corner of the Warragul Railway Station main car park. The motorbike was fitted with a steering lock, which was engaged. At 3:10AM unknown offender/s have dragged the motorbike up the walking bridge approximately 20 meters, where they have dropped the motorbike on its side and set the motorbike on fire. CFA attended and extinguished the fire, however the motorbike was completely destroy...ed. The bikes owner had saved his money to purchase the bike but could not afford to purchase insurance. The owner is devastated at the loss of his pride and joy.
