25.01.2022 As the weather starts to warm up, we know this is a time when many people would normally like to be out and about but it is important that if you choose to leave your home you continue to adhere to the directions of the Chief Health Officer. For those in Metropolitan Melbourne this includes following the directions around public gatherings which are strictly limited to a maximum of five people from up to two households. Breaching this restriction will result in a $4956 infri...ngement notice. People must also continue to wear a mask and not travel further than 5km from home. While the majority of Victorians continue to do the right thing there unfortunately remain those who deliberately breach restrictions and place lives at risk. A number of fines were issued to people who breached directions at St Kilda beach yesterday (Friday 2 October) and Victoria Police will be out in force at beaches and popular public spaces this weekend. We will not hesitate to fine those who clearly and blatantly breach the Chief Health Officer directions. 25.01.2022 Hi everyone, My name is Flame and I have spent my career working for Victoria Police. A few weeks ago you may have heard about a significant investigation in Southern Metro Region called Operation Brandish. I was one of the many members that contributed to the outstanding results and subsequent arrests. I was able to use all my training and wonderful nose to sniff out some important property, cash and drugs related to the executed warrants. I couldnt have done it without my fantastic handler, LSC WILSON, who has been by my side for everything. Sadly, Ill be retiring later this year, but will always fondly remember my time at the Victoria Police Dog Squad.

23.01.2022 Mordialloc Police Station are appealing for your help following a hit-run that left a school child with minor injuries. The incident occurred on 17th November 2020 at approximately 15:40pm. The school child was crossing Beach Street at the pedestrian lights when a vehicle struck him. The driver failed to stop and failed to render assistance. ... The victim believes that the vehicle may have been a silver Holden with a male driver. 23.01.2022 Two people have been arrested in relation to the death of a 46-year-old man in Melbourne's CBD. Last month, detectives charged three people, two men and a woman, with one count of murder each in relation to the matter.

Scammers purporting to be from Australian Cyber Security Centre are calling Australians and attempting to trick them into installing malicious software on personal devices. The Australian Cyber Security Centre warns some Australians are receiving phone calls from scammers purporting to be ACSC employees and claiming the receiving person’s computer has been compromised.... These malicious callers are known as ‘remote access scammers’ and they request individuals to download ‘TeamViewer’ or ‘AnyDesk’ onto their device to help resolve the malware issue. The scammer then attempts to persuade recipients to take actions, such as enter a URL into a browser and access online banking service, which then compromises their computer to reveal banking information, enabling them access to transfer funds. Some recipients of these calls have reported to ACSC that the scammers may have spoofed legitimate caller ID numbers, to make their unsolicited calls appear more authentic. How do I stay safe? 19.01.2022 The Southern Metro Region Multicultural Liaison Unit and the Monash Crime Prevention Officer co-presented an online Role of Police and Personal Safety Presentation to Monash International Students. Originally scheduled for the commencement of Semester 1, the bi-annual presentations were suspended due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the innovative online delivery was facilitated out of the Clayton campus. Victoria Police and Monash Security delivered the presentation over ZOOM to students located both in Australia and overseas who will eventually commence their studies at one of the three Monash campuses when restrictions are eased. A great initiative!

The suspect is arrested, and property searched. Neighbours approach police to thank them for their work the property has been the scene of fights, screaming, and suspicious visitors at all hours. 16.01.2022 NOT ALL SUPER HEROES WEAR CAPES! On Sunday 27th September, mild mannered A/Sgt Joe IANZANO rushed to a job at Edithvale beach. A female was out in the water and in distress. With no time to wait for the Water Police, and not a phone booth in sight, A/Sgt IANZANO whipped off his kit and leapt into the water. He swam out to the female and was able to bring her back to safety, avoiding a case of hypothermia or drowning incident. In true superhero style, Joe was ...immediately dressed and up, up and away to an aggravated burglary in Chelsea. 15.01.2022 Police executed a search warrant at a Kensington address on Tuesday, 1 September and arrested a 62-year-old man. The man was interviewed and charged with two counts of common law assault, unlawful assault and offensive behaviour in a public place. He was bailed to appear before Ringwood Magistrates Court on 17 December.... Police would like to thank the community and the media for their assistance with the matter.

14.01.2022 THANK YOU! Moorabbin Proactive Policing Unit were very excited to support our friends at Neighbourhood Watch recently. In the past week, NHW put a call out to assist the vulnerable young people living in residential care in our areas during this time of lockdown. These restrictions are hard on all of us, but these young people dont have the support of family or close friends. A request for donations of board games, card games, sporting goods, jigsaw puzzles and gaming c...onsoles was sought, to enable these young people to stay home and feel supported. An overwhelming response from the Bayside community saw the PPU collecting items from over 50 homes. We have almost completed distributing the items to the care units in Bentleigh, Bentleigh East, Cheltenham, Hampton and Highett, and their reactions have been priceless. They are extremely grateful for all the donations and look forward to sharing the love amongst their residents. Neighbourhood Watch, Police and the residential homes all want to thank each and every one of you for your fantastic outpouring of love, support, messages and donations. This is the first of a three-part micro-documentary series, with the next episode being released on Wednesday.

13.01.2022 In total, over 500 cannabis plants, a large quantity of dried cannabis and cash was seized. The value of the seizure is estimated to be $1.5 million dollars. The arrests form part of an ongoing operation to disrupt a major organised drug syndicate cultivating and trafficking cannabis.

10.01.2022 Moorabbin Highway Patrol were outbound on Dandenong Rd in Caulfield South last night when they came across this blue Subaru. The male driver had no excuses for his 125kph in the 70kph zone. His vehicle was impounded and he will receive a summons. 08.01.2022 Theres a Highett chance someone will recognise this man. Investigators have been told a man walked into a medical clinic on Highett Road on 25 June and took a mobile phone from the unattended reception counter.

08.01.2022 The vehicle stopped on Endeavour Drive where an 18-year-old Cranbourne man and a 19-year-old Hampton Park man were arrested at the scene. Detectives from Southern Metro Crime Team are now questioning/ the men in relation to a number of other incidents. Both remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries and the investigation is ongoing.

06.01.2022 Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston have been hit hard again for vehicle crimes in the past week. Bayside recorded 12 thefts from and of motor vehicles in this time. Glen Eira had 17 TFMV/TOMV offences, predominantly in the Bentleigh, Carnegie and Murrumbeena areas. In Kingston, Patterson Lakes was targeted 10 times on the 19/8/20 (the offenders were processed) and there were a further 15 offences throughout Kingston. Dont find yourself a victim of crime! A 21-year-old driver was caught travelling on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at 142km/h in a 100km/h zone. He then allegedly returned an evidentiary breath test reading of .145....

The male has been bailed to appear in the Magistrates Court in February. 02.01.2022 During the week, Operation ADAPT members noticed a black Mazda in the forecourt of a convenience store in Clarinda. Police spoke to the driver and passenger. The driver gave a preliminary breath test of 0.118% and was requested to accompany the members to a police station for an evidentiary breath test. The male driver refused to accompany the members and will now lose his licence for 2 years. He will also receive a summons to appear in court at a later date. Whilst committing this offence, the offenders were also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and were issued a $1652 penalty notice each. The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of corona virus.

02.01.2022 BORDER PATROL Part 2 Here we are again, this time with a few pics of our wonderful border location and some of the locals that kept us company at Bandiana Barracks. There was a large hill behind the barracks we stayed in and two of the boys thought it would be fun to run to the top (after 10hrs on their feet), and take some photos of the view! Later, two wiser members drove up and captured the sunset. If you look closely, you can see our brightly lit highway sites.

Their dedicated service to the community is respected, and they will never be forgotten. #NPRD2020

01.01.2022 Good work by Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) who on Monday arrested a 20-year-old male from Frankston in connection to an alleged sexual assault of a female which occurred along the Kurrawa Linear Reserve in Patterson Lakes last month. The male received numerous charges and was remanded into custody until the 13th of November, 2020 at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
