20.01.2022 *** HIGH DRINK DRIVING READING IN WARRNAMBOOL *** Members of the Warrnambool Highway Patrol intercepted a drink driver on Friday afternoon at approximately 2pm in Warrnambool. A local 47 year old man was requested to accompany police to the police station for an evidential breath test where he returned a staggering reading of 0.263 which is more than five times the legal limit. ... It is certainly quite disappointing that he considered he could still drive with such a high reading. The man will face the Magistrates' Court in the future and had his car impounded and lost his licence on the spot for 12 months as a minimum. 12.01.2022 It’s believed the driver of Holden Commodore travelling west on Carpendeit Bungador Road lost control at a right-hand bend and crashed into a tree about 11.20pm. The scene was discovered just after 7am by a passer-by who called emergency services. The driver of the station wagon, a 61-year-old local man, died at the scene.

Using fireworks in summer can also start fires, which is something we all want to prevent. Anyone thinking of using illegal fireworks should reflect on whether they want to risk being responsible for the death or serious injury of another person. Anyone caught using fireworks without a licence can face criminal charges including jail for up to 15 years and thousands of dollars’ worth of fines.

05.01.2022 ***** VEHICLE IMPOUNDED ***** At 32 year old Terang woman will face court on charges of driving whilst disqualified and using an unregistered motor vehicle after she was intercepted by police in Terang on Sunday evening. The vehicle was impounded at a cost of $1295 and will be held for 30 days.... At the time of the offence, the driver had three children and a dog in the car. Victoria Police have a power to impound vehicles for a number of prescribed offences such as driving whilst disqualified / suspended, drink driving, hoon driving, excessive speed ( > 45km/h ), failing to stop vehicle on police direction and many more.

Wearing a seatbelt gives you the best chance of survival if involved in a serious collision. Sadly lives could have been saved if people managed to do this simple task. 02.01.2022 Police from Terang and Mortlake on Friday helped out a very busy man. Santa Claus wanted to visit a wonderful group of people but because it was daylight did not want to use his sleigh, since too many children would see him. Santa landed his sleigh at a secret location and the police collected him. Using lights and sirens Santa was driven to the Cooinda Christmas Party at the Noorat oval. Santa told police that all the staff, clients and residents at Cooinda were on hi...s good list. Presents were given out and Santa gave lots of hugs to the clients and residents. Santa was then returned to his sleigh where police checked his sleigh for flight. Police advised Santa that Rudolph’s nose was not red enough and needed a polish to meet regulations. One of the straps used to secure the presents was found to be a bit frayed. Santa promised to fix these two things up.
