23.01.2022 Police are investigating a collision that occurred on the inbound lanes on the Westgate bridge, this morning Friday 6th November 2020 at about 6:30am. The collision may have been the result of a road-rage incident which resulted in a car colliding against the guard rail. A 22-year-old man from Deer Park has been charged with violent disorder, possess controlled weapon, commit indictable offence on bail and fail to provide information. A 21-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing has been charged with violent disorder and was bailed to appear before Sunshine... Magistrates’ Court on 23 June 2021. A 23-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was released without charged. 19.01.2022 Members of the Westgate Highway Patrol tracked down an offending driver last week who had earlier failed to stop when directed by Police. The 24 year old male driver from Mt Cottrell has been charged with evading police, using false registration plates and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. His vehicle was immediately impounded. It is a serious offence for failing to stop for Police when directed. ... Another dangerous driver has been taken off our roads.

15.01.2022 Today, police from Westgate Highway Patrol were honoured to to attend the Explorers Learning Centre in Williams Landing to accept a cheque on behalf of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation. The centre raised $500.30 in memory of our fallen colleagues Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Joshua Prestney, and Constable Glen Humphris, who were tragically killed while on duty in April 2020. The teachers and students raised the mon...ey by selling police ribbons, hosting dress up days and selling plaster packs that they put together themselves. A staff member at the Explorers Learning Centre said, Our Explorers Family were touched with the tragedy that occurred on the Eastern freeway. To support the fallen officers we decided to raise money for the Blue Ribbon Foundation. We appreciate what Victoria Police do on a daily basis to ensure our community is safe. 13.01.2022 Westgate Highway Patrol members who were out looking for speedsters around 11:00pm last night, have located a vehicle travelling at 110kmph (posted speed limit is 60kmph) in Pipe Road Laverton North. The 19 yo driver from Truganina, attempted to evade members by running a red traffic light and turning the headlights off before eventually seeing sense and pulled over. Leading Senior Constable JONES said "that no matter what time of night it is, police are always out to deter and catch those who blatantly break the laws. A 29-year-old Tarneit male, who has never held a motorcycle licence, was caught speeding at 86 km/h in a 60 zone around the corner of Leakes Road and Derrimut Road. The offender's 25-year-old brother came by to pick him up in a car. So we did a check and found that he has been driving and has never held a licence as well. ... Both the motorcycle and the car were impounded with cost of $1006.10 each. The impounds form part of Operation Nexus, a five-day focus on keeping our community safe on the roads during the Easter long weekend. #OpNexus

04.01.2022 As the weather starts to warm up, we know this is a time when many people would normally like to be out and about but it is important that if you choose to leave your home you continue to adhere to the directions of the Chief Health Officer. For those in Metropolitan Melbourne this includes following the directions around public gatherings which are strictly limited to a maximum of five people from up to two households. Breaching this restriction will result in a $4956 infri...ngement notice. People must also continue to wear a mask and not travel further than 5km from home. While the majority of Victorians continue to do the right thing there unfortunately remain those who deliberately breach restrictions and place lives at risk. A number of fines were issued to people who breached directions at St Kilda beach yesterday (Friday 2 October) and Victoria Police will be out in force at beaches and popular public spaces this weekend.
