22.01.2022 Hi! Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. We currently run an indoor/outdoor program and are very curious as to how this works with ratios. We are in Qld and our ratios in our playground are 1:5 and 1:11. An example of where we are struggling is how we incorporate emergent play and keeping to ratios. So, say we have 14 children engaged with indoor play and 8 children engaged in outdoor play in our 1:11 ratio, how do we work our educators? To our understanding we would need to have 1 staff educator to 11 children forcing 3 to play outside with the rest of the group. How does this work with emergent play? We would really love some insight as to how other early learning centres manage this and create the best environment for our children while following all relevant guidelines.
22.01.2022 Can someone please explain to us how recognised prior learning works when it comes to assessing educators for their qualifications? From what we understand if you have the right level of experience you may not need to study at all as all of that is recognised towards your qualification (cert 3 etc.)?

Is asking the child to wait okay? Why/why not?

I'm in Queensland and have recently been told that if the children have mats to sleep on the floor, that the floor has to be cleaned twice a day incase they roll off onto the floor. Was told this is part of the regs, but I can't see it anywhere! Can anyone help me with this. Thanks

10.01.2022 Hi please post: I have a child moving into my room who refuses to go to the toilet, he will hold on to his wee all day. The girls from his previous room have tried heaps of things to try and get him to go to the toilet. Sticker charts, pictures of his family and even calling his mum to let him talk to her, as she is the only person he will go to the toilet for. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep in mind I'm pregnant and due in November. Short story: ... My owner told all of the staff that we will be made to drop hours or we will be made redundant because of the centres financial states. Fair work has said this is legal.... A few people were made redundant straight away and some educators offered to drop hours..... So a few weeks ago our rosters changed and only myself and one other educator also pregnant (that wanted to drop hours) lost hours. People that wanted to drop hours didn't and Several educators even picked up more hours....... What would you do? How would you address this situation? Thank you

03.01.2022 When at Tafe I learnt about a teaching technique. But I can't remember it's name or who documented it. It is when you are wanting to teach something, say the colour blue, then eveything in an area will be a collection of blue things. Can anyone help me with finding out more information about this procedure please. TIA
