24.01.2022 Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the newly enhanced Veloster N. Equipped with the all-new N 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (N DCT), the 2020 Veloster N is designed and engineered to deliver exhilarating driving fun, the company says with lots of acronyms. Hyundai developed the N DCT to provide the engaging experience of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic transmission. With the N DCT, the new Veloster N can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.6 se...conds1. N DCT is equipped with electronic actuators that operate the double clutch, providing ride comfort, fuel efficiency and most importantly, driving fun. Unlike a dry double-clutch transmission, the wet N DCT uses oil to significantly improve lubrication and cooling performance, which is typical of higher torque applications. The N DCT comes with video game-like features that enhance driving fun. N Grin Shift (NGS) increases torque by 7 percent from 36.0 to 38.5kgf-m by allowing turbocharger overboost and maximises transmission response for 20 seconds performance that is certain to induce driver grin. Additionally, N Power Shift (NPS) engages when the car accelerates with more than 90 percent of throttle, thereby mitigating any reduction in torque by using upshifts to deliver maximum power to the wheels. This gives the driver a responsive feeling of dynamic acceleration when shifting. See more

11.01.2022 Do you look back on the days that a steering wheel was just that, and a windscreen was a pane of glass or do you relish all the challenges the OEMs throw at you? The redesigned E-Class will launch a new, comprehensively digitalised generation of steering wheel from Mercedes-Benz: the capacitive steering wheel. Its rim contains a two-zone sensor mat that detects whether the driver’s hands are gripping the steering wheel. The touch control buttons placed in the spokes also work with digital signals.

07.01.2022 Did you know that the Packard was the first car to get air conditioning back In 1939? These bulky units were manufactured by Bishop and Babcock (B&B), of Cleveland, Ohio and ordered on approximately 2,000 cars. The "Bishop and Babcock Weather Conditioner" also incorporated a heater. Cars ordered with this option were shipped from Packard's East Grand Boulevard facility to the B&B factory where the conversion was performed. Packard warranted and supported this conversion. How...ever, it was not commercially successful because: The main evaporator and blower system took up half of the trunk space (though this became less of a problem as trunks became larger in the post-war period). It was superseded by more efficient systems in the post-war years. It had no temperature thermostat or shut-off mechanism other than switching the blower off. (Cold air would still sometimes enter the car with any movement as the drive belt was continuously connected to the compressorlater systems would use electrically operated clutches to remedy this problem.) The several feet of plumbing going back and forth between the engine compartment and trunk proved unreliable in service. The price, at US $274 was unaffordable to most people in depression/pre-war America. See more
