24.01.2022 Often we hear things like I’m never going to look like that again or There’s no way I’ll be able to lose 10kg. WHY NOT? Think about how long it took you to put on those 10kgs. Think about your lifestyle habits that have enabled you to put on those 10kg. While they are habits you’ve created over time, you can still change them! It won’t be easy but won’t it be worth it?... If you can change your mindset from never going to happen to holy crap this is going to be tough but I’ll do my best, you’ll be surprised what happens. Think about one thing every two weeks that you can change, that’ll get you closer to where you want to be. It might be chocolate twice a week instead of everyday. Or only drinking alcohol one night a week instead of four. 15.01.2022 How do you get rid of bad habits to replace them with healthier ones? There is one simple answer to this question - lower your expectations and pressure on yourself! If you want to get rid of a bad habit, ANYTHING is better than doing nothing.... One less piece of chocolate is one piece less than yesterday. Five minutes of stretching after your workout will improve your flexibility more than none. A 10 minute walk to easy your mind is a 10 minute longer break than none. A bowl of vegetables is a full of nutrients and is better than no vegetables! It will all add up and become easier as you go. 13.01.2022 I’m sure most of you will have had your good days and your bad days. Some of those good days may be related to spending the day at the beach with your family, running in and out of the surf with your kids. On the other hand, some of those bad days may have been after a breakup, with you sitting inside on the couch eating your favourite comfort food. If you think about those activities, what is happening to your body physically? You were either running in the sun at the beac...h or sat still on the couch. When you were outside running around you felt great and when you sat inside you didn’t feel so good. We all have our ups and downs in our life, some are within our control but unfortunately most are not. The one thing that we can control is our response to these. We can either sit inside with the comfort food or we can go and run in the sun at the beach. Daily exercise is great not only for your physical body but also our mind. One final thought on exercise and mental health.... there is only so much exercise can help with so if you or someone you know is struggling, especially during trying times of COVID, reach out for help. 08.01.2022 EVERYTHING IN MODERATION How many times do you fail and revert back to old ways, when you cut something out, go cold turkey? More often than not, you actually end up worse off than where you started!... It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Why can’t you have some self control and discipline to only drink alcohol one night a week instead of every night? Or having a takeaway meal twice a week instead of every second night? Or get your exercise done most days instead of making an excuse to not do it at all? You don’t have to completely cut carbs from your diet because you think they’re ‘bad’. Whole grain carbs are good for you! They provide energy, fill you up & are great for your gut health. Training three times a week is better than one at all. Eating comfort food sometimes is also OK. There’s no need for negativity towards food, exercise or anything else in life, especially during isolation. 08.01.2022 Think about all the things you do on a daily basis. How many of these things are habitual? Brushing your teeth. Going to work. Taking your kids to school. Cooking dinner. Some days we can’t really be bothered doing these things but we do them anyway. For me, staying motivated for exercise is much the same. Once you start seeing it as a non-negotiable, a must do, rather than a should do, you may just surprise yourself with how long you can stick with it. Try to shift your pers...pective. Recognise the fact that moving your body is important. Be honest with yourself as to why you keep letting it slide. Once you start feeling great, you’ll miss that feeling when you find yourself unmotivated and in a rut. 08.01.2022 I think there is still a bit of confusion about our At-Home training programs, i.e. the difference between our live sessions and Gravity, so I'm going to clarify it for you... The top photo is what our LIVE sessions look like. It's US! Your favourite trainers training with you, watching you, correcting your technique, pushing you, interacting with you... just like we do in the studio!! The bottom photo is what the Gravity sessions look like on the F45 Challenge app. While it’...s still a good option, you’re shown what to do and the rest is up to you. At the moment we do three live sessions each week day at 6am, 9.30am (but this time will probably change soon) and 5.30pm. We record the first session and post the entire live session on the F45 All Stars Facebook page. So if you can't make it to log into our Zoom meeting at any of these times, you can watch the recorded session whenever you like! If you have the F45 Live membership, you should be doing either a live stream session with us OR playing the recording at a time more suitable for you. It gives a bit of variety so you're not just doing Gravity every day. 07.01.2022 FINDING ROUTINE HARD? How good is routine?! I know when we’re in it, it can seem monotonous but now we’re out of it, do you appreciate it more? As restrictions start to lift and normal life starts to slowly return, think about the routine you had before isolation....... When it comes to your training, pick a time that suits you, a time that you can fit it in around the rest of your schedule. It might mean that you have to get up a bit earlier than you have for the last 7 weeks to get it done but won’t it be worth it? You’ll feel better that’s it’s done, you won’t have to think about it again today. You won’t have to feel guilty tonight because you decided (again!) not to train today. Make the sacrifice of an hour sleep to get a head start on your day. Start with 3 days a week and increase it to 4 or 5. It’s a great exercise to get your heart rate up and keep it up! @caitlincooper02 is doing a smashing job right here but we can also offer some modifications if this option is a little too challenging for you. Best advice... don’t be afraid of the bench hop & trust yourself! If you don’t get all the way over, you’ll only land on the soft bench. ... I like to give you a target here, so see how many you can do without stopping then use that as your guide.
