13.01.2022 We all know Jase, he’s the guy who gives us our daily lols and worries about everyone else first but lockdown was a really difficult time for him and I’m sure many of you can relate. Jason was working from home next to the fridge and pantry and unfortunately the zoom training did nothing for his motivation, therefore his weight blew out. Right out to pre F45 With weight gain not only does your general health become at risk, your mental health and confidence has a rapid decl...ine. When he was finally able to return to the office with his team, they immediately noticed his spark was missing. So along with a very disappointing body scan and his ‘before’ photo, it was enough to convince him to commit to the 45 Day Challenge! As it turned out the weight loss was a bonus because he immediately became more focused, had a clearer headspace and felt mentally and physically healthier. The food had evolved hugely since previous challenges and he was hooked! He now works off his own plan after going through and printing his favorite recipes and is very conscious of portion sizes and how he fuels his body. He has increased his training to 6 days a week and happy to continue this daily routine. Now out of the Covid bubble he is 11kgs lighter, happier and one heck of a cook! 07.01.2022 It’s safe to say this year’s been a tough one for everyone, myself included. When Covid hit, gyms were amongst the first to close. I started off being very positive about all the time I had at home, this slowly slipped into something completely different. I couldn’t see what was happening to me, or maybe I could and at the time I just didn’t want to admit it. Luckily for me, my great friend could see that I wasn’t ok. She asked me how I was, she was honest with me about what ...she was seeing and helped me feel comfortable to talk to her. She helped me see that it’s ok to not be ok and it’s ok to put your hand up and say I need help. For this I will be forever grateful because I don’t know that I would of taken the steps to get the help I needed without her support. She helped me make the decision to see my doctor and for the past 5 months I’ve been seeing a psychologist. As I’ve been healing over the last few months it’s enabled me to see how much we need to support everyone around us and help get rid of the stigma that surrounds mental health. No one should ever feel embarrassed or ashamed to be open about their mental health battles. The more we continue to talk to the people around us and ask the meaningful questions, the more comfortable they will feel. Have the conversations, ask the questions and be honest with your intentions and answers. Don’t try and hide behind a false sense of happiness if deep down there’s something you need to get out and talk about. The more I’ve been open with the people around me about how I’ve been lately the more it’s helped them open up to me as well. It’s created conversations that never would of happened previously, and for that I’m so thankful for, not just for me but the people around me. So talk to the people around you and ask R U OK? Let’s start creating conversations that will help normalise mental health.
