We are currently finalising the timetable to accommodate the additional cleaning, hygiene, and social distancing requirements we must follow in order to keep you and our coaches safe and well.... 25.01.2022 TIPS FOR SUCCESS BACK IN THE GYM! Youre going to be RARING to go once the gym re-opens on MONDAY. Youll possibly be tempted to see where youre at or even in a hurry to get back to pre-COVID fitness levels. On the eve of the gym re-opening next week, we thought wed plant a few seeds in your thinking so that your come-back is STRONG & SUSTAINABLE not a one-HIIT wonder ... 1 LEAVE THE EGO AT HOME! Starting at 50% (even lower if youd like) is a solid starting point after taking a 10+ week break from lifting/pushing/pulling and squatting barbells/dumbells etc. It will feel easy but its so important to ease back in.Going all out on your first day or first week is a recipe for extreme soreness at best and potential injury at worst. Keep both volume and intensity low and youll be able to train again right away because youll recover from the session better. 2 KEEP EXPECTATIONS IN CHECK The toughest thing will be to resist the urge to compare yourself to your previous fitness/strength levels. This will inevitably lead you to try to rush to weights, volume & intensity your body isnt primed for just yet, which is not a long term sustainable strategy.Try to enjoy the ability to grab a barbell again, enjoy the ability to see your gym buddies again, enjoy the sense of normal youll feel and getting your thing back. These two tips - while not the flashiest advice ever - will help to guide you to be both physically and mentally kind to yourself as you get back to your training. SET 2: 20 secs work : 10 sec rest SET 3: 20 secs work : 20 sec rest Have water bottle handy for the breaks Todays session is RESISTANCE based, designed to overload and work to failure The session has been designed for body weight, but if you have resistance equipment at home (eg. 25.01.2022 TIPS FOR RECOVERY We’ve been back for 4 days post COVID closure & there are some sore bodies out there! Hands up if this is you Here are some tips to ensure you recover well, allowing you to increase performance in future workouts, feel good & minimise injury risk. That’s the last thing we want after 3 months off . 1 REST! Plan to include rest days in your fitness routine - this is so important. Remember that strength and fitness gains come to fruition wh...en you’re resting. Going too hard (too soon) will only leave you sore & your performance will decline. . 2 HYDRATE! Drink plenty of water to replace fluids after exercise. Aim for at least 2L per day. Lime juice & a little good quality sea salt in water make an excellent electrolyte drink! . 3 NOURISH! Eat well (and enough) to recover & perform well. Include quality sources of lean protein, low GI carbs, healthy fats & loads of veg. Avoid processed foods, refined sugars, alcohol, excess sodium & saturated fats. A quality magnesium supplement will also assist muscle relaxation. . 4 SLEEP! Getting good quality sleep is one of the most important factors of achieving optimal health & is essential for recovery (muscles repair at rest). . 5 STRETCH! Stretching can assist recovery by relieving tight muscles & improving circulation. Gentle yoga is a great option for an active recovery day. Meet Emma @ailieanne Emma has been smashing out some lockdown sessions and she cant wait to get amongst some outdoor training sessions on the 28th with her partner Kyle (he never wants to do Zoom classes with her. Cmon Kyle ). Her birthday is coming up on October 9th...with any luck well have a bit more freedom by then so she can celebrate . Emmas favourite in-studio F45 workout is Hollywood in Saturdays because it has a g...reat combination of cardio and strength exercises . Emma has a few favourite F45 Challenge App recipes including the Healthy Chicken Parma, Beef Strip Pizza F45 and Cheesy Omelette. Were sensing that Emmas a bit of a cheese addict with this selection . Emmas iso goal is to avoid gaining any weight. Not only has she achieved this, but shes actually lost a few kilos during the current 45 Challenge! Her total weight loss this year is an incredible 18kg and counting Go Emma! . Emmas hobbies include reading, travelling, walking and cross-stitching. Justyn was born in South Australia and lived in Mount Gambier until he was 10, before moving to Bendigo for a year and then to Melbourne when he was 11. ... . Justyn has a boxing and bodybuilding/fitness modelling background. He has his sights set on competing again in Sydney in 2021 (Covid-19 has put 2020 comp plans on hold ). . Justyn began his career training clients 1:1 but fell into team training and has never looked back! His favourite part of working at F45 is the top class banter with our amazing members . Ingredients ... 100g desiccated coconut 200g fresh cherries 30g cacao powder 30g pistachio nuts, no salt 10g cacao nibs 125ml coconut oil 100g raw, unsalted almonds 100g almond butter 45g rice malt syrup 3ml vanilla bean extract Instructions 1 Add the coconut, pistachio, cherries, cacao, cacao nibs and almonds in a food processor. 2Blitz until the ingredients combine together. 16.01.2022 2021 FITNESS TRENDS! @fitnessaustralialtd has just released a list of a couple of trends occurring in the fitness industry at the moment. A lot of these trends are offered right here at your very own @f45_training_blackburn studio!... Here are some things we offer from the list Fitness Australia released: Functional Training - Thats what the F in F45 stands for! Our workout program will always take into consideration doing movements that can transfer to real life. All those squats and deadlifts are strengthening your lower body and back so you are able to pick things up off the ground safely, carry your groceries, move freely without pain! Group Training - Studies have shown that if you enjoy your training, the more likely you will stick with it! Grab a buddy and come train! Or just make new ones! Online Training - We offer this when our studio is closed. If a lockdown happens again, we can still continue to work on our fitness. Body Weight Training - Training with Bodyweight can be challenging, can be done anywhere without equipment and is very functional! Strength Training - Lifting weights is important! As we grow older our muscles start to atrophy (breakdown). We need to continue to build it up and get stronger! HIIT - High intensity interval training, that’s what we do here at F45! Our workouts are not time consuming but they are very intense! A great way to get a lot of work done in a short amount of time with great results. Wearable Technology - Technology is a great way to track your workouts. It helps us collect quantitative data so we are aware if we are actually improving/ working harder. Sometimes it’s not ideal to rely on how you felt after a workout, but instead have some way of showing it. 08.01.2022 TIPS FOR RECOVERY Weve been back for 4 days post COVID closure & there are some sore bodies out there! Hands up if this is you Here are some tips to ensure you recover well, allowing you to increase performance in future workouts, feel good & minimise injury risk. Thats the last thing we want after 3 months off . 1 REST! Plan to include rest days in your fitness routine - this is so important. Remember that strength and fitness gains come to fruition wh...en youre resting. Going too hard (too soon) will only leave you sore & your performance will decline. . 2 HYDRATE! Drink plenty of water to replace fluids after exercise. Aim for at least 2L per day. Lime juice & a little good quality sea salt in water make an excellent electrolyte drink! . 3 NOURISH! Eat well (and enough) to recover & perform well. Include quality sources of lean protein, low GI carbs, healthy fats & loads of veg. Avoid processed foods, refined sugars, alcohol, excess sodium & saturated fats. A quality magnesium supplement will also assist muscle relaxation. . 4 SLEEP! Getting good quality sleep is one of the most important factors of achieving optimal health & is essential for recovery (muscles repair at rest). . 5 STRETCH! Stretching can assist recovery by relieving tight muscles & improving circulation. Gentle yoga is a great option for an active recovery day. Perhaps even treat yourself to a massage to unwind both body & mind. . Got any other tips for speedy recovery? Tim is our all time leader for number of classes completed in the studio...a massive 838 . This state of BEing in the moment, free of distraction, aware of your surroundings, free of attaching judgement or expectation to your position, situation, appearance or behaviour is to be Mindful and to be practicing MINDFULNESS. The more formal and purposeful version of mindfulness is to practice meditation - dedicating a period of time to sitting or lying in stil...lness and quiet, becoming aware of your feelings, thoughts and emotions, but letting them pass without getting stuck in judgement or labelling. Practicing mediation and mindfulness can help with refocussing and realigning thoughts, help us manage stress and anxiety, remain calm under pressure, feel more relaxed and productive. Try to say that quickly 10x over Annetta’s other role is being an amazing mum to daughter Ella - which in her own words has great rewards but not very good renumeration!! . Annetta is an absolute machine in the gym! Her energy and work rate are second to none, which makes her an inspiration to fellow members and the coaches alike! She’s got a... bit of a potty mouth on her sometimes too during workouts Annetta’s all time favourite in-studio F45 workouts are Romans and Wingman. She loves lifting weights because it makes her feel though and mentally strong . One of Annetta’s favourite healthy recipes is grilled salmon with smashed avo mixed in with Spanish onion, tomato, jalapeños and a little crumbled feta with lemon juice. Ummm hello, that sounds AMAZING . Annetta’s iso goal was to be consistent and maintain good overall health. She recently purchased a Garmin Vivomove HR watch and she’s now really focused on 4 main areas - her stress levels, intensity minutes/zones, sleep and steps. What a health superstar! . Annetta’s hobbies include quilting and sewing, cooking, gardening, sailing and fishing, and just being outdoors and amongst nature exploring! She hopes to one day get back into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). . Fun fact: in 2011 Annetta attended a Tony Robbins event - "Unleash the Power Within" and she successfully (without burning her feet) did the fire walk! 04.01.2022 TIPS FOR SUCCESS BACK IN THE GYM! You’re going to be RARING to go once the gym re-opens on MONDAY. You’ll possibly be tempted to see where you’re at or even in a hurry to get back to pre-COVID fitness levels. On the eve of the gym re-opening next week, we thought we’d plant a few seeds in your thinking so that your come-back is STRONG & SUSTAINABLE not a one-HIIT wonder ... 1 LEAVE THE EGO AT HOME! Starting at 50% (even lower if you’d like) is a solid starting point after taking a 10+ week break from lifting/pushing/pulling and squatting barbells/dumbells etc. It will feel easy but it’s so important to ease back in.Going all out on your first day or first week is a recipe for extreme soreness at best and potential injury at worst. Keep both volume and intensity low and you’ll be able to train again right away because you’ll recover from the session better. 2 KEEP EXPECTATIONS IN CHECK The toughest thing will be to resist the urge to compare yourself to your previous fitness/strength levels. This will inevitably lead you to try to rush to weights, volume & intensity your body isn’t primed for just yet, which is not a long term sustainable strategy.Try to enjoy the ability to grab a barbell again, enjoy the ability to see your gym buddies again, enjoy the sense of normal you’ll feel and getting your thing back. These two tips - while not the flashiest advice ever - will help to guide you to be both physically and mentally kind to yourself as you get back to your training. 02.01.2022 Comeback Plan Now that you've booked your first sessions for this week, let's go over a few important must-know and must-do's. 1: Be punctual... The first rule is now the most important- PLEASE arrive on time to your booked session. 5 minutes early is even better! Your coaches will be locking the front door once the class time STARTS- no exceptions 2: You MUST bring a towel and pre-filled water bottle with you Stash a towel in your gym bag the night before so you don't forget. Or alternatively, we will be selling them at the front desk prior to your session. If you do not have a towel- unfortunately, we can't let you train!
