19.01.2022 The weekend is near so lets chat about the importance of Restingisjustas important asworking out asits anequal part of the total process required to build strength, endurance and muscle! Here are a few key pointers to be mindful of ... 1 - Rest days prevent overuse. That extends from running to lifting and even walking. If you push yourself too hard without a break, your muscles and joints suffer from overuse and thats where injuries can occur. 2 - During periods of heavy activity, our immune systems are constantly activating to repair muscles and joints. Without the right amount of rest, your immune system cant catch up to all the repairs your body needs. And then... You guessed it: injuries 3 - Is your sleep pattern all over the place? Over training could be the main culprit. Too much exercise can actually put your body in a constant state of restlessness or on high alert making a good nights sleep very tough to achieve. Taking rest days can help bring down your alertness and heart rate. 17.01.2022 These silly moments at our themed Hollywood sessions are the ones we miss the most Back in the 70s and 80s it was all about aerobics. Did you know that strength training for women wasnt unheard of, however building bulk and looking leaner was extremely feared of, therefore prevented many women from picking up anything larger than a 1 kilo dumbbell. It wasnt until the 90s that strength training really took off for women. Seated:... When seated, you are to focus on light resistant sprinting! Turn the dial up to a point that you can start to feel a bit of resistance, the go a little further and sprint through it for the set. Hover: Now this is the interesting one. When in a hover, we want to focus strictly on QUADS! The correct positioning is for you to rest your arms on the bars, keeping your hips straight and not swaying side to side, point your toes down and focus on pushing in that direction. You want to focus on contracting your quads while you push, that lactic acid will come Standing: This is the one where you dial it up! Holding onto the bars for dear life, drive that intensity up like you’re riding up a hill! Turn that dial up as hard as you can, try your best to control your breathing and time how long you can stay at that current intensity, then work on getting higher! Please not the difference in your session when you see the bike, each position is there for a reason to suit the workout! #f45 #f45training #bike #intensity #correctway

15.01.2022 If there’s one thing Joyce loves, it’s great form, just look how good hers is There was a conversation sparked up at the studio when one of our members said I eat too much sugar and bread. This lead to a discussion about how carbs aren’t the enemy and that we shouldn’t always crucify them as a No No when trying to lose weight.... We had our resident burgerologist Lucas to break down why carbs aren’t bad and what they are necessary when it comes to doing such high intensity training! It’s all about timing. If you’re looking for peak energy and performance, having a simple carb snack before you train will boost your energy levels, allowing you to lift heavier for longer, while having it after you train will replenish your glycogen stores and also promote protein synthesis. But then again, so long as you’re in a caloric deficit, and you’re hitting your protein, fats and carbs, it doesn’t’t really matter to an extent, unless you have gut issues or your insulin sensitivity is shot. 15.01.2022 We can’t wait for the day that we can run our packed Hollywood sessions again No words can describe the vibe and atmosphere in the studio when you have so many happy people in one place! What is an AMRAP?... It stands for as many reps as possible. This is the general method used when it comes to HIIT! But it can be used in other ways. One such, in a drop set! When trying to grow, you want to do as much VOLUME as you can (like we’re stated in previous posts). Adding an AMRAP in instead of a drop set is a fantastic way to add diversity and a lot of volume to your program. If you’re doing a drop set of 8, 10, 12, 15.. Take out the last 3 sets, complete your 8 reps and add an AMRAP in there with 20-30% less weight of the first set and see what difference it makes. Again this comes down to preferred type of training as well as your goal. And when we say AMRAP, we mean until you physically can’t move any more, LITERALLY! #f45training #f45 #volume #grow #knowledge

Tracking your total weight, reps and volume during your session can help you notice what effects your diet and lifestyle are having on your progression. For example, if you go into a session and find they you didn’t hit as high a target as last time, you can look back into what could be the cause, by comparing your current session to previous sessions that this has happened in before. Was it not enough sleep? Did you eat more or less the day or the day before? Did you have enough water? Was your day or week a little more stressful than usual? All of this can impact you during your session, but because you’ve tracked everything to that date, you can find the cause and fix it a lot quicker than last time! 09.01.2022 Christmas is around the corner Jingles is here patiently waiting for you all Let’s talk about the 3 different body types!... ectomorph mesomorph endomorph Let’s break them down! Ectomorph: is a body that struggles to maintain weight or even put it on! It has an extremely high metabolism. This doesn’t mean you can go forth and eat EVERYTHING! If you do that, you’ll be that skinny person with a pot belly (this will be because your gut health). Mesomorph: this is the sweet spot, this is where we all want to be. This is the body that can balance muscle mass and the amount of body fat one would have. They can eat relatively well, train 3-4 times a week, have a few cheat meals, and still look great! Endomorph: this is where most of us are, find it hard to lose weight, but can stack it on superfast! Now, being an endo isn’t that bad, if your goal@is to put on mass, you’ve got the golden ticket. All you’ll need to do is train hard and eat well enough that you don’t blow out in body fat! There is no such thing as a perfect body, ask the top bodybuilders and they’ll tell you at least 1 or 2 things they could work on. But you can find what’s perfect for you to be happy! You may be an endomorph; mesomorph or ectomorph now, but don’t give up, this can change. Through dietary variations and training programs, you can adapt and change your bodies physiology! So let’s show you the easiest and most basic way to track your food and still see results!... Firstly, go onto google and find a BMR calculator. Then: enter all the information it needs (age, weight and height) select your energy expenditure (daily movement, should be done automatically when you select your activity level). take away 20% of that total number. work out your protein from the formula we posted in yesterday’s lunchtime post. multiply that by 4 to get the caloric value. input your calories into myfitnesspal and make sure your protein is correct. now all you need to do is scan your food/ attempt to eyeball serving sizes. This is the most basic way to track calories! You could always do the whole just focus on eating clean method, but, this way, you can enjoy yourself with the treats you love have a life and it’s a step in the right direction to eventually use all the tools available to you when trying to change your lifestyle for the better! #f45 #f45training #food #tracking #calories #simple
