25.01.2022 TRAINER TIP - The Push Up An exercise which most of the population struggle to execute well, although something everyone should do regularly. It is a foundational movement in strength training. HOW TO:... ** A great tip to ensuring your hands positioning is right - start laying on the ground and line your thumbs up to the middle of the chest, hands just outside shoulder width. Whether you work on your knees or toes, glutes need to be engaged and belly button drawn towards your spine for a strong foundation. Think of the body in one straight line as you lower towards the ground maintain glute and core engagement ensuring hips don't drop - maintaining a straight line through the body from head to toe. Keep your eyes forward looking just in front of hands - maintaining a straight neck Do not drop the head and look towards the chest To focus on opening the chest as you lower bring your shoulder blades together ** HOT TIP for progressing your pushups - Try lowering on your toes slowly, once you hit end range (chest to floor), lower your knees to the ground and push back to the top with strong form - REPEAT. 3 MORE sessions today to practice your pushups! 03.01.2022 Perspective and priorities are important! Too often we’ll look for cheaper options because that’s too expensive, it’s not worth that etc. We do this all too often when it comes to our health. We keep away from the organic section or whole food quality isles in Coles. We look at a gym but say it’s too expensive. But when did our perspective on the importance of our wellness become skewed?... We will go out for fast food, breakfast or dinner multiple times a week, we’ll spend $50 + at the bar on a night out but when it comes to putting that $50 into a better place suddenly it’s too expensive. One of those meals out, or a few of those drinks on the weekend easily covers the cost of a gym membership or those organize whole foods at Coles. It’s time to re-evaluate our priorities, your health is your wealth and we’re becoming poorer and poorer.
03.01.2022 WEEK 5 LET’S GO! We’re 2 weeks away from closing out the final challenge of 2020 and we’re closing out with a BANG!! It’s time to stare down the finish line and keep up our consistency and hard work, we’ve not come this far or gone through what we have this year to give up so short. Let’s talk CONSISTENCY and realistic expectations.... The nature of challenges can be detrimental to those who seek out major physical change in a short period of time as that usually requires a heavy level of restriction. Heavy restriction isn't maintainable so what happens is people yo-yo back to where they were or slide up and down the scale as their eating and routine isn't consistent. The old saying consistency is key, is more true than ever. If you have a big physical goal you need to tackle it with longer term, maintainable, healthy progress. SO, point to the story - the journey is of consistency, the journey is longer term, and the journey needs to be a healthy maintainable one. You want these habits for life, day to day, week to week not just for 6 weeks of your life. Let’s finish STRONG
