It was held at Salsa Port Douglas with a 4 Course lunch, entertainment and a raffle which raised thousands of dollars for the Mayors Christmas Appeal. Hampers and help will now be able to go to so many families in the Douglas Shire because of the lunch and the kind support of locals. 14.01.2022 September 26, 2020 Tropical North Queensland will become the very first place on earth to host a COVID-Safe country music festival, with The Savannah Summer Series landing in Cairns and Mareeba this October 1-3. Sound Australia says festival organisers were able to quickly postpone the full weekend event to 2021 and announce they will keep the music playing in a COVID-safe way for 2020 at the same time giving the Far North the first taste of what’s to come next year. Today it was officially opened by Federal MP Warren Entsch and Pip Woodward. Pip and late husband Charlie began their family business in 1976 when they opened Rainforestation Nature Park in Kuranda but then turned their eff...orts to the Douglas Shire acquiring the Rainforest Habitat as part of the CaPTA Group. The detailed results, released by The Douglas Shire Council revealed the winning option saw a vote of 66% compared to 33% for the lesser favoured option. The results, released by Douglas Shire Council today, revealed a majority of those who completed the Daintree River Crossing Survey preferred a two-ferry service with 66% of the count, compared to 33% of people who chose a bridge.
