25.01.2022 A few pics from today and yesterday. First up the blank for the new gear ready for cutting teeth once the cutter arrives. It’s a module 2 tooth form and I can’t wait to use the dividing head properly! Then there’s the 3 shaft end caps. All 3 didn’t exist in the correct form so only option was making them new, and then making the detent pins for the selector levers. The left one is original, and quite worn. The right, slightly longer and a better fit in the lever. 22.01.2022 For some time now our sliding door has been sticking and bouncing in its track, also quite hard to open/close. Today was the day to fix it! After taking a closer look, the original plastic rollers were found in pieces. I dismantled the old rollers, machined the original spindle to accept some roller bearings I had on the shelf, and then turned up new bronze wheels which were a nice press fit. 20.01.2022 Today's job was to hone 2 cylinders for Cam's Harley Davidson 1940w class c racer 750cc engine freshen up. Keroseme is used to lubricate and clean away the removed material. 20.01.2022 Another one off modification today. The task - make holden wheel fit same taper and keyway as supplied example steering wheel from a boat. 18.01.2022 Something a little different this afternoon. A local Lady asked me if I could make some plant pot hangers for her. She loves her Orchids, and tells me they don’t like sitting in pots in the ground. She wanted something to be able to hang them from her fence, that resembled something her husband made for her years ago. 15.01.2022 So we picked up a trailer a couple of weeks ago and decided the spare needed to be mounted in a better position. Saw a clever design online for a bolt on spare wheel carrier and figured I'd make my own version from some scraps I had laying around. 02.01.2022 Bought this little gem of a machine on the weekend. I love a bargain that’s broken. Was told it jumped out of gear, but worked otherwise. Well, what it turned out to be is previously repaired by someone, poorly. A nylon gear had been put in in place of a fibre one. It was on the lowest speed setting, (highest output torque), and had stripped 10 teeth in a row. It also had several failed bearings, and the gear shifting dogs were well worn. I’ve ordered a few bits for it and as they arrive I’ll repair and remake what I need to.
