22.01.2022 FAB Pétanque Club - South Terrace Piste 4 October 2020 - 22 players Bill & JWS d Blackie & Terry 13-9... Our relocation to the South Terrace Piste saw the competition played under threatening skies but in the end the rain held off. JWS won the final for the second week in a row and has been labelled the Giant Killer after defeating J-P, Dave W and Terry. The Trèbes Cup will be held on the 11th October is limited to 24 teams of Single Gender Triples - RSVP to Terry Hall ([email protected]) by Wednesday 7th October.

21.01.2022 FAB at the SA State Triples Championship FAB made a big impression at the South Australian State Triples Championship held at Eastern Suburbs Petanque Inc on Sunday 30th August 2020. In addition to entering three of the twenty-three teams, FAB also supplied the official non-playing Umpire - Terry. After the morning pool matches two FAB teams were in the top 8 (Principale) and the third was in the second 8 (Complementaire). The team of Axel, Paula and John N won all 3 pool gam...es and finished 3rd in Pool A. The team of Steve, Penny and Lance won 2 games after losing to Axel's team and finished 4th in Pool A. The team of Susan K, Ken and Annie H finished 6th in Pool B with one win and a bye. In the afternoon, the team of Steve, Penny and Lance won their first game and ended up equal 3rd in the Principale. The team of Axel, Paula and John N played off for the final of the Consolante and came 2nd. Our third team was knocked out in the first round of the Complementaire by an ESP team which contained the good friends of FAB, Tory and Lionel. Another sterling performance by Eastern Suburbs Petanque Inc both on and off the piste.

16.01.2022 SAPL InterClub Round 2 for 2020-2021 Once again, FAB fielded four teams for the SAPL InterClub Competition. Round 2 for 2020-2021 was held at the Club de Petanque d'Adelaide on Sunday 27 September. With 30 teams competing it was promising to be another testing day for the FAB teams. However, it was a very strong performance put up by our 4 teams who all finished the day in the top half of the rankings - 5th, 7th, 10th and 13th.... The strong performance by the FAB teams earned 33 premiership points (up from 3 in Round 1) to be equal 5th on the ladder with Novar Gardens PC. The best ranked FAB team was Steve, Penny and Terry who, finished 1st in Pool A and 5th at the end of the day. The team of Susan K, Rae and Ken finished 2nd in Pool A and 7th overall. After a play off between the other two teams, Axel, John N and Paula finished 10th and Carol, Annie H and Lance finished 13th. The Club de Petanque d'Adelaide showed off their new shelters and signage, and provided a great lunch prepared by Rada and Claudia. The next Interclub match is on Sunday 29th November at Gawler PC.

Updated COVID-19 Directions 2020 Public Activities No 12 Emergency Management (Public Activities No 12) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 comes into effect as of 0001 Sunday 22 November 2020. The Direction provides updates after South Australia’s Stay at Home period. The changes are minor and restrictions under the previous Direction largely apply. The following restrictions and provisions are in place and carried over from the previous Direction: Sports and Recreational Activities: Community sports training and games are no longer permitted regardless of whether the activity is conducted indoors or outdoors.

Another good performance by FAB at InterClub with 10 players taking part: o Ken, Rae & Susan - 4th - 18 points o Annie - 9th - 4 points... o Terry, Penny & Steve - 11th - 9 points o Paula, John N & Axel - 21st 28 teams took part in a very tough competition. FAB moves to equal 4th on the League table in front of Novar Gardens, Gawler & Noarlunga.

07.01.2022 FAB SPRING CUP Sunday 6 September 2020 52 members and FAB friends turned out for the Spring Cup today. Past member Scott Balfour visited us from Alice Spring and Jeane made a welcome return to the piste.... The final saw the FAB/ESP combo of J-P, Dave W and Lionel take victory over the Club de Pétanque d’Adelaide team of Dom, Rada and Alain in a close fought battle 13-10. The marvellous spring weather saw the appearance of some fashion with the green and white polo tops of the Beirut Boys (Lance, Ralph and Bill) and the green polo tops with red giraffe logo of the Three Musketeers, only two of whom were present with Steve being replaced by Tory to complete the team with Terry and Craig.

04.01.2022 SUMMER CUP TRIPLES IS ON AT FAB PETANQUE CLUB FAB Petanque Competition recommences from Sunday, December 6th 2020 with COVID-SAfe Check-In. The Summer Cup Triples will be held on Sunday December 6th 2020 at the South Terrace Piste. More details will be provided in the next FAB BB. Please arrive well before the 10:15 AM registration cut off time in order to complete your COVID- Safe Check-In.... As of Tuesday 1st December, everyone attending FAB Petanque Competition or Social events will be able to do a COVID-SAfe check in by scanning a QR code which will be displayed at the venue. To be able to use this facility you need to download the MySA Gov app; details are www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/business-and-work/covid-safe-check-in . Those without access to the app can fill in your details on a sign in sheet.

01.01.2022 THE 2020 CHRISTOS CUP 20 September 2020 On a fine and sunny day 24 teams contested the Christos Cup Triples competition for the 16th time. Visitors from Novar Gardens Petanque Club, Club De Petanque D'adelaide, Eastern Suburbs Petanque Club and Prospect Pétanque Club raised the level of the competition.... After three pool games before lunch, the four semi-finalists were made up of two FAB teams, a FAB/Adelaide combo and a team from Novar Gardens PC. Terry, Dave W and J-P defeated Lynne, Margie and Annie S in the first semi-final, and after a protracted battle Steve, Craig and Dom came back from a long way behind to defeat the Novar Gardens team of Bruce, Anne and Lesley. In the final, Terry, Dave W and J-P were victorious over Steve, Craig and Dom by 13 to 6. It was the second win for Terry, Dave W and J-P after winning in 2017. Dave W joined a select group of four players who have won the Christos Cup three or more times. A large group of volunteers, led by JWS, ensured that the competition ran smoothly, the lunch was served on time and in plentiful amounts and that all of the visitors were warmly welcomed. Many thanks to all those who pitched in on the day.
