20.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is 8th -15th of November and this year's theme is 'Always Was, Always Will Be'. This theme recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this land for 65,000 years. It reflects and acknowledges the spiritual and cultural connection they have to this country. 14.01.2022 Listen up Canberra There’s been a recent rise in outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis (gastro) in childcare centres. We need your help to stop the spread of gas...tro. If your child is vomiting or has diarrhoea, keep them at home and away from other children. Once their symptoms have stopped, keep them at home for another 48 hours. Make sure everyone in your house washes their hands regularly with soap and water especially after going to the toilet and before you eat. Remember, hand sanitiser does not replace soap and water. Only use hand sanitiser (with at least 60-80% alcohol) if soap and water isn’t accessible and your hands aren’t visibly dirty. Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects, like benchtops, doorknobs, computers and mobile phones. When cleaning, use a detergent-based product to clean surfaces. If cleaning up after a body fluid spill, use a diluted bleach solution after first cleaning the surface with a detergent based product. For further tips to stop the spread of gastro, see our factsheet https://bit.ly/gastro-factsheet
