24.01.2022 Visa Grant over the holidays! After obtaining a Visitor Visa and Travel Exemption for our clients we were able to secure a Permanent Partner Visa in under 6 months! The Temporary Partner Visa application was lodged in late June 2020. Both the Temporary Partner Visa and Permanent Partner Visa were then granted (immediately one after another) in December 2020. ... 18.01.2022 The Western Australian Agricultural Minister has suggested an "undocumented worker amnesty system" to address the agricultural labour shortage. The idea has support from Victoria and would allow illegal workers in Australia to come forward and work in jobs such as those usually taken up by backpackers. Read more here - https://tinyurl.com/y5uegxw7 It will be interesting to see if the huge dip in migration creates new pathways for travellers already in Australia or the lucky few able to come in. Another suggestion has already been to provide temporary refugees with a permanent residency pathway to help in struggling industries.

17.01.2022 We have just pulled another Travel Exemption and Visitor Visa across the line. Couples with less than 12 months evidence of living together have been facing extra scrutiny by the Australian Border Force and getting exemptions through on this basis has been difficult. Some couples have been refused 20 or 30 times, butting their heads against an unfair process with a lack of transparency. The couple in our case had lived together for less than 12 months, but thankfully approved on the first attempt and now this couple will be able to spend Christmas together! 06.01.2022 Offshore Partner (Subclass 309) Visa granted in 4.5 months! This is well below the Department's current 18 - 23 month published averages. The applicant was from Ireland and the couple were living together in Canada. We had to be careful with the application however, as the applicant had previous immigration issues in Australia (including a travel ban). 05.01.2022 The Australian Government announced incoming Partner Visa changes when revealing the budget. Yesterday, the Government provided more details about the Partner Visa English requirement, stating - From late 2021, new partner visa applicants and permanent resident sponsors will be required to have functional level English or to demonstrate that they have made reasonable efforts to learn English. People will be able to demonstrate this through, for example, the completion of 50...0 hours of free English language classes through the AMEP [Adult Migration English Program]. Most partner visas are a provisional visa of two years before becoming eligible for a permanent visa. The requirement will have to be met at the time of the granting of the permanent visa. The Government has stated that more details will come in the following months. This could include more details about a new sponsorship approval process or more details about the English requirement. 05.01.2022 Another Onshore Partner (Subclass 820) Visa Granted in about 11 months - again, well below the current 23 28 months average processing times. We had to be careful with this application as the couple only met 9 months prior to lodgement and therefore also hadn't lived together for 12 months before lodgement. We were able to get a positive result with detailed relationship statements from the couple themselves and their supporting family and friends.
