17.01.2022 As part of our diversity and inclusion week, tomorrow we celebrate with ‘Lots of Socks’so pull out those mismatched socks and wear them proudly. Lots of Socks is an international campaign to create conversation and bring awareness of Down syndrome. The idea behind the Lots of Socks initiative is that all types, shapes, sizes of the same thing can be unique in their own way, and yet do the same thing. Children understand what socks are, how they look and what they are for, and children understand that no two socks are the same. Lots of Socks is a campaign to create conversation about diversity, uniqueness, inclusion and acceptance.

14.01.2022 It’s #ThrowbackThursday. Taken circa 1915, the faces in the photo may be unfamiliar, however that building is definitely recognisable. An unknown gathering of adults, children and soldiersthe plaque held by the solder suggests a commemorative event relating to World War I. 12.01.2022 Loving the latest art installation in the Old Hall, courtesy of the Year 3&4 students. Inspired by M.C. Escher’s ’Hand with Reflecting Sphere’, students traced their hand, arranged it with their sphere on their painted background, and pasted it artistically.

10.01.2022 Ever wondered about the story behind the antlers in the Old Hall? An article in The Age newspaper on 18 July 1939, provides details. The mounted antlers were donated by to the school by past pupil Mr Ashley W Cooper, who attended Fairfield State School (as it was then known) in 1886. Gifted to the school some 60 years after Mr Cooper left, the antlers have remained in the same location and are indeedas the article statessplendid specimens.
