The donation will go towards the prize pool for the Fairfield Art Society Online Open Art Exhibition which will take place on Friday 13 November 2020. Fairfield City Art Society was formed in 1961 and is a not-for-profit, multicultural, visual arts group. We look forward to seeing the amazing artworks at this year's exhibition!

23.01.2022 Today it has been incorrectly reported in the media that Fairfield City Council’s Illuminate New Year’s Eve event has been cancelled. Council is working with the NSW Health and the Mass Gathering Unit to put in a COVID-19 Safety Plan that will allow a modified, safe, ticketed, Fairfield City resident-only Illuminate New Year’s Eve event to go ahead. A final decision on Illuminate will be made closer to the event and will be announced here on Facebook and our print channels.

21.01.2022 The Australian Jordanian Society from Canley Heights generously donated $5,000 to Councils Bushfire Relief Appeal at last months Council meeting. This makes the total raised an incredible more than $130,000. Council held a Bushfire Relief Appeal in response to the bushfire emergency in NSW, Victoria and Queensland in December and January. Communities are still feeling the devastating effects and money raised is doing good for those still recovering. The money was raised by the extraordinary efforts of residents and local clubs, including visitors at our Illuminate celebrations, and now the Australian Jordanian Society.

19.01.2022 Engraved pavers at Fairfield Showground update Fairfield City residents and businesses were given the opportunity to purchase a piece of the Showground to remember their connection to Fairfield. Fairfield City Museum & Gallery preserves and celebrates culture with exhibitions that showcase the various traditional activities and customs practised in our community. Coming up in October is a new exhibition, MIRAS: Celebrating Uyghur Culture, and shedding light on the little-known Uyghurs of East Turkistan. Currently western Sydney is home to approximately 600 Uyghur migrants and refugees so we encourage you to join us on this journey to explore the rich and vibrant culture that is Uyghur.
18.01.2022 Congratulations to the 32 Fairfield City residents who took the important step and became Australian citizens last week! It was the first citizenship ceremony held in Fairfield City since March, when COVID-19 restrictions required the cancellation of large gatherings. Ceremonies will continue to be held according to COVID-19 regulations, including social distancing and increased hygiene and cleaning. We look forward to October's ceremony where we will welcome our next group of new citizens!

Businesses not complying will risk heavy on-the-spot fines of $1,000 for individuals or $5,000 for businesses. There are much larger penalties for repeat offences. Authorised NSW Government officers are currently visiting and cracking down on local businesses to assess their compliance w...ith the NSW Public Health Order and COVID-Safe Regulations. Businesses found not complying with COVID rules will risk facing heavy on-the-spot fines of $1,000 for individuals and $5,000 for companies, for each breach. Much larger penalties will apply for repeat offenders. Hospitality venues and other businesses will also be required to use QR codes for tracing purposes from 23 November. It’s a contact-less, hygienic and private method of collecting details. Businesses can download a free NSW government QR code through the Service NSW app that captures business name, address as well as customer’s contact details. Operators can also use a QR Code provider of choice other than the one available from Service NSW. The information is securely stored for 28 days for the sole purpose of contract tracing and can be accessed by NSW Health in the event of an outbreak. It is crucial that businesses take immediate steps to ensure they are registered and operating in a COVID-Safe manner to ensure the safety of their customers, and to avoid hefty fines. 11.01.2022 It was all hands on deck at St Johns Park Early Learning Centre as children and staff joined with indigenous artists Trevor Eastwood and Jason Douglas from Dalmarri to begin work on a new mural. The new mural will be installed at the centre in celebration of local indigenous heritage. Operators can also use a QR Code provider of choice other than the one available from Servic...e NSW. The information is securely stored for 28 days for the sole purpose of contract tracing and can be accessed by NSW Health in the event of an outbreak. It is crucial that businesses take immediate steps to ensure they are registered and operating in a COVID-Safe manner to ensure the safety of their customers, and to avoid hefty fines. 06.01.2022 Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone has announced that a Heroes of Fairfield pathway will be laid at Fairfield Showground featuring pavers engraved with the names of our local heroes. These heroes will include Horsley Park RFS volunteers Geoffrey Keaton and Andrew O’Dwyer who died while on duty fighting bushfires last year, and Constable David Carty from Fairfield Police, who died in 1997. 05.01.2022 Today Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone joined with Deputy Mayor Paul Azzo, Councillors Andrew Rohan, Dai Le, Peter Grippaudo and Joe Molluso, and Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells to officially open the new multipurpose amenities building at Fairfield Showground - providing high-quality change rooms, gym, meeting room, office and kitchen/canteen facilities for sporting events and festivals. The $5.1 million building was jointly funded by Fairfield City Council, and state and federal governments through the Western Sydney City Deal’s Western Parkland City Liveability Program.
