25.01.2022 A great meeting tonight! A lot underway in bonnyrigg. Good to know that during Covid-19 there has been hardly any vandalism in the area. 2021 will be the year that activities are locked in for the suburb. Stay tuned!

24.01.2022 Getting in early for the official father's day post. Took dad shopping today and having a BBQ with the FAM. Dad, you have been amazing! Thank God I have a dad like you who believes in all that I am and for being such a modern minded individual. You back me with absolutely any choice I make regardless of your thoughts. All you want is my happiness. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. I hope I can always make you proud, and I hope my future hubby can love me like you do xo

23.01.2022 I thank the Vietnamese Community in Australia NSW Chapter, particularly Paul Huy Nguyen and the gorgeous Kate Hoang for giving me the honour of attending the Hai Ba Trung (Vietnamese Women's Day) celebrations, commemorating the Trung sisters, who are heroines of the first Vietnamese independence movement, who headed a rebellion against the Han-dynasty overlords and established an autonomous state dating back to 40 A.D. They were women who were fierce and brave and their encourage is unlike anything I have heard about before.

23.01.2022 Today I joined Councillor colleagues, the Mayor, our amazing library staff and community members for the 70th anniversary of Fairfield City Library services. As a member of the NSW Public Libraries Association, I know all too well the importance of maintaining the upkeep of our libraries, considering new innovations and accessibility, and the wealth of knowledge libraries can provide to our community. All my life the library was my best friend, remembering the hours and hours... of study visits and trips to Bonnyrigg library. I thank the amazing library staff in all that they do in keeping our libraries alive. #FairfieldLibraryServices70years #fairfieldcity

21.01.2022 2020. The year of ultimate mixed emotions for me. Returning from a fantastic trip to NZ in Jan this year, to witnessing horrendous bushfires and the loss of many lives, to witnessing lockdowns that made many of us feel depressed and still not knowing if we will see the end of this pandemic. Having to change the way in which we live our lives forever, being given a new job opportunity in a new sector I love, getting my first home after four years of agonising patience, complet...ing my 4th year on council and about to embark on my 5th (with an election in sept), about to commence my last year for my research, and all other things in between that i've lived through. I pray that 2021 is at least slightly better than this year. I hope you are able to be with your loved ones wherever you are. This year has taught me so much about patience and resilience. I am excited to see what the future holds no matter what it is. Happy New year everyone!

19.01.2022 Honoured to join Councillor colleagues and staff today at the Fairfield Showground for the announcement of our new grandstand coming soon. I am proud of participating in initiatives during my Council term to deliver state of the art facilities and push for progressive projects to benefit everyone in our community. **Disclaimer: every councillor was invited to attend this opening. Whether or not they choose to participate is their issue. As an elected official I believe given the allowance I receive I am expected to, and it is my duty to participate as much as I can and shouldn't be attacked or intimidated by specific individuals who choose not to take part, for being in photos such as this and for simply doing my job.

18.01.2022 May you all have a fantastic Christmas: one where Santa isn't in quarantine so that you can hopefully receive your presents (great excuse to use if you prefer to save money this year). P.s. Gizmo was asleep so I have included his favourite toy instead in the photo.

17.01.2022 As a community services worker (disability advocate for the royal commission) in the disability sector I understand how essential our services are to support some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our society, particularly through a year of floods, fires and now a pandemic. The Federal Government has not committed to continue to fund our Equal Pay wages beyond December 2020. Because of this, our sector faces a massive funding shortfall of over $500 million whi...ch will impact over 100,000 jobs and countless essential services. The Federal Government can fix this in its Federal Budget in October. Join us in calling on them to properly fund Equal Pay and support essential community services workers! 16.01.2022 Media release by Local Government NSW outlining the impact on the proposed budget measures on our Local Councils: Councillor Linda Scott https://lgnsw.org.au//20/1006_federal_budget_response.aspx

Also proud to see the Fairfield City Council staff and stall promoting next years conference destination!! Looking forward to the next two days of learning and insight.

14.01.2022 We need the Koala policy RIGHT NOW! Under the new SEPP, landowners will need to provide more evidence that proposed developments will not impact koala habitats. Given the devastating impacts of the bushfires, if we do not have appropriate policies in place to protect the Koala habitat, they could be extinct before 2050! We need to be mindful of our natural habitat in addition to creating developments for the betterment of our community as a whole. If we play it fair we will receive fair results.

14.01.2022 I want to express my gratitude with Trish Doyle MP for proposing the Coercive Control Bill to Parliament: if this Bill is passed, it will make it a criminal offence to engage in conduct considered coercive. In addition to stalking, breaching orders or damaging property, sending repeated and uninvited emails, controlling a persons life and day to day activities will also be covered in the bill, and punishable by a maximum of 5 years imprisonment. So many silent victims suffer... in DV relationships and can't do anything about it unless its physical, and I have met many women in these situations. This is legislation that is needed and covers many relationships including: *children *partners *former partners *parents I am all for this legislation and I say to the critics who think that civil protections are enough to deal with non physical coercion that you are sadly misinformed. Many women/ men are turned away when they report such behaviours as it doesn't meet the threshold of abuse deemed to be threatful. These behaviours are a precurser to homicide and if you're lucky enough to survive, you endure PTSD and other issues/ illnesses for the rest of your life. I strongly encourage everyone to support this Bill in its entirety Jodi McKay MP Julia Finn MP Yasmin Catley MP https://www.abc.net.au//-drum-nsw-coercive-contr/12662614

03.01.2022 Almost 4 years ago, I was preselected by NSW Labor to run for Council in Fairfield City for the Parks Ward where I live. Here is a memory of my post and photo during my candidacy exactly 4 years ago: *** "I am 28 years old, live in Bonnyrigg and have lived in Bonnyrigg all of my life. I was born in Australia and am a proud Australian. I am not rich, not a property developer, nor have I ever been. I come from a working class family in which I am proud and I live within my mean...Continue reading

01.01.2022 Today marks 43 years since the death of the King of Rock, Elvis Aron Presley, who was from Tupelo Mississippi. His death was disputed as cardiac arrest but was really due to medical negligence from his Dr over prescribing a dangerous combination of sleeping pills and other depressants combatting his insomnia. He died at the age of 42. He was instrumental in changing our music culture from a segregated one where people unite for Rock n Roll. He was overly generous, buying random people items they wanted and giving away his money purely to make people happy as he understood what it was like to have nothing, given his modest upbringing. He hated drugs and alcohol and even met with President Nixon for drug reform discussions.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to Natalia Audisho-Berkho for the official opening of her very own law firm Infinity Law Group located at Fairfield. At such a young age, Natalie is a legal professional with a wealth of experience in many areas of the law including family law, conveyancing, civil law disputes and various other areas of litigation. Being your own boss in a competitive industry as a young woman is tough and Natalie has been able to master that. Well done!
