23.01.2022 How to Tape Your Foot to Relieve Heel Pain To say that heel pain sucks would be an understatement. It can make you miserable from your very first steps right through to the end of the day. In this video, our podiatrist Shaun demonstrates a simple and effective taping technique that can help to reduce heel pain.... All you need is some 38 mm rigid strapping tape and some Fixomull if you have a tape allergy. Give it a go and let us know if you have any questions.
22.01.2022 At Fairfield Podiatry, our highly qualified and experienced podiatrists use a state-of-the-art shockwave therapy machine to relieve pain and stimulate healing for chronic plantar fascia (under the heel) and Achilles tendon (back of the heel) problems. When used for the right injury at the right time, shockwave therapy can lead to a significant improvement in a person's physical and mental health. Getting the pain under control can also allow us to implement a more comprehensi...ve management plan sooner than later. Although the treatment can be uncomfortable, most people are happy to put up with a short period of discomfort to experience the benefits of shockwave therapy. Because we want everyone to have the opportunity to benefit from shockwave therapy, there is no additional cost on top of the consultation cost for your first shockwave therapy treatment. You can also claim an on the spot rebate for your consultation if you have private health insurance with podiatry cover. Check out the shockwave therapy page on our website for more information. https://www.fairfieldpodiatry.com.au/serv/shockwave-therapy

12.01.2022 How to Relieve Heel Pain in the Morning One of the worst things about heel pain due to plantar fascia irritation is that it tends to be at its worst when you get out of bed in the morning. It can be bad enough to make you feel 20 years older and want to stay in bed. While there are no quick fixes for this problem, and a single treatment option will rarely get rid of it, this quick and easy stretch is likely to enable you to start the day more comfortably.... Sitting on the edge of your bed, cross your affected leg over your non-affected leg. Use the hand on your affected side to pull your toes back towards the front of your leg. Hold this position for 30 seconds. To check that you're completing this exercise correctly, use the thumb on your non-affected side to feel the arch of your foot. You should feel something popping out. Make sure you give it a go daily for one week before deciding if it's worthwhile continuing or not. Please share with anyone you know that's suffering from heel pain.

02.01.2022 At Fairfield Podiatry, our friendly and experienced podiatrists can help to prevent and treat running injuries and can assist you with running re-training. Believe it or not, running is not as simple as putting on your runners (or whatever shoes you have) and going out for a run. Most of the running injuries we see in the clinic are usually due to:... Sudden progression of running frequency, distance and intensity Poor running technique Poor mechanics (due to genetics or weakness) Inappropriate footwear Heel pain is one of the most common running injuries. Using clinical assessments and video gait analysis, your podiatrist will identify and explain the things that you can work and what you need to do to address them. Your podiatrist will then formulate a customised return to running program aligned with your goals, which may include pain-relief, building up to a certain distance or completing an event. You can also claim an on the spot rebate for your consultation if you have private health insurance with podiatry cover. Check out the walking and running analysis page on our website for more information. https://www.fairfieldpodiatry.com.au/walking-and-running-an
