23.01.2022 Verge gardening is not going away it is actually going further and further and deeper into the streets, suburbs, villages, towns cities and hearts of our commun...ities. 2020 has seen a (here's a chance for a new hashtag) #surgeintheverge . I like that actually so feel free to spread it around like some good mulch or compost or better still both. Are you growing anything on your verge at the moment ? Are you considering becoming a fully planted up up and composted member of the national verge gardening ..mmmm what do you call a group or movement of verge gardeners..... a nature strip of verge gardeners ? A cluster or a suite . I dont know I need your help on this. But again I ask do you have the #urgetoverge ...oops hashtag number two in three minutes. What is it with a Friday night still at the desk at the office and Im coming forth with hashtags back to back. Ok Ok they are nothing earth shattering or compost turning but they are leaking out of me this eve. Anyway my final question is have you seen or are you responsible for any good verges / Whats the climate like in your local municipality/ Who are the proactive verge garden supporting municipalities and who is having hiccups and speed humps in thwart their attempts to grow plants and build biodiversity corridors in the burbs? Anyway . let me know what you are thinking of it all and a big thanks to journalist Sally Dillon for looking into this world and putting the spotlight on verges and 3urbanagriculture and the important role it plays in our communities and particularly for many more people during 2020. 20.01.2022 Sweet and Flint corn for popping by @rekha.garden.kitchen posting about saving your own seeds. Saving varieties of vegetables that are acclimatised to your growing conditions means greater success in the garden. Flint corn has a hard outer layer and is generally used as an ornamental or for popping and it looks amazing. #growfood #corn #savingseeds #backyard #gardening #backyardgardener #homegrown #foodapp #fairfoodforagerapp #fairfoodforager #greeniegram
