18.01.2022 Highlanders & friends, we need your help! Fairground Follies would LOVE to show our world-class collection to visitors but we need Council approval first. Wingecarribee Shire Council is dragging its heels on the DA to make our collection a tourist attraction. AND they’re demanding a HUGE sum of money from us without justification the building and its parking are unchanged. It used to house more workers than the 80 visitors we’d like to have on site at a time. Council will... talk about it at their general meeting next Wednesday. We want you to tell them to say YES! Help us bring tourist dollars, jobs and a whole lot of world-renowned nostalgic fun to the Highlands. Fairground Follies is here and ready to roll we just need the go-ahead to open our doors to visitors. Please share your support for this vision. Here’s how you can help: - Email all Councillors at once [email protected] - If you're part of a tourism, history or musical arts organisation, ask to address the Council meeting (you have to apply at https://www.wsc.nsw.gov.au and complete a 474 Public Forum Application Form) - Email council admin [email protected] - Share this post with your networks and connections - we need as many people to know about this as possible.

17.01.2022 Bowral is home to the world’s premier collection of fairground attractions... and right now hardly anyone can see it. We’re asking Wingecarribee Shire Council to pass a DA to allow visitors (by the busload!) to Fairground Follies in Bowral. BUT they’re asking for $70K in contributions and more. We just don’t understand why - and they can’t seem to tell us why. Fairground Follies is in the heart of Bowral, and people from all over the globe WANT to see it. National and intern...ational museums and cultural institutions know its worth - why doesn’t our own Council? Council’s former Economic Development & Tourism Committee, chaired by Ian Scandrett, Councillor, Wingecarribee Shire Council, unanimously endorsed our proposal. And it perfectly fits the aims of Council’s new Economic Taskforce, which has MPs on it. So what is the issue this time? We want to use our internationally renowned attraction to bring revenue to the Highlands that means dollars, tourists, jobs, growth, training, industry, opportunity and more. Fairground Follies is open for business but only sometimes, and by appointment only. It’s owned by a local with a passion for preservation, restoration, education, nostalgia and joy... and he just wants to share it. Fairground Follies is here and ready to roll we just need the go-ahead to open our doors to visitors.
