24.01.2022 We hope all the dads out there had a great Fatherss day. Here at Fairhill family day care we worked very hard and made beautiful coasters and cards for our wonderful Dads.

24.01.2022 The children had been choosing The very hungry caterpillar daily at story time so thought it would make a great subject for the week. It did, the children really enjoyed feeding the caterpillar, lots of opportunities to retell the story and bring it to life. Endless craft ideas too as well as chances to practice our fine motor skills with early writing skills in tracing, dot to dots and mazes. We used our scissor skills to cut out memory games and cut and stick scenes. We also painted our faces as butterflies and made cupcakes today using lemons picked straight from the tree in our garden.

19.01.2022 As an extension to our learning about The very hungry caterpillar we took a closer look at the butterfly life cycle. We were lucky enough to be given some caterpillars and an enclosure. And have had the joy of watching them get big, turn into cocoons and into beautiful butterflies. Today we released our first 2 into the world . Cant beat hands on learning!

18.01.2022 Lots of fun for the first 2 weeks of the year with vacation care and the little ones!

17.01.2022 This week some of the children started to use the dump truck to collect rocks from around the garden to build a rock mountain. Today a child returned to find his mountain still there and used a watering can to pour water over it and talked about it being a volcano and the water the lava. We then talked lots of volcano talk and I suggested we could have a go at making a model volcano. This was a fun and satisfying task enjoyed by all. Goes to show where childrens play can lead

17.01.2022 This week the Fairhill Olympics took place. There was lots of events- running, hurdles, high jump, ring toss, bike race to name a few. We won medals, stood on our podium, made medals and won them some more and created Olympic ring art too!

15.01.2022 New additions to the Fairhill Family day care crew. Welcome Rusty and Ranger. New twice daily activity bottle feeding the babies, a pretty popular job!

14.01.2022 Yep, we got messy! As always

13.01.2022 This week we had The ice cream shop selling ice creams and a selection of fruit. This has been a hit with everyone! Lots of great role play, social and language opportunities. Even better is that Sand Cafe is next door and you can get a cup of sand coffee to go with your ice cream!

13.01.2022 Welcome to Fairhill family daycare Class of 2017!

12.01.2022 A beautiful winters day sitting painting bark in the garden, an ideal way to spend our afternoon.

12.01.2022 We have been very lucky to have more baby animals to look after. Our very proud mummy ducks hatched 15 beautiful ducklings. This week we took them down to the dam each day to have their first swims! They took to it like a duck to water!

11.01.2022 A few weeks ago, Rusty and Ranger turned one. On their birthday the children decided to make them a cake. They had great fun mixing cornflakes, sultanas, tomatoes, carrots, grass, leaves and water together! It looked yummy and Rusty and Ranger loved it!

11.01.2022 The children decided to pretend to fill up theirs cars with petrol using a rope so we decided to extend on the idea and build The Fairhill Servo. We discussed ideas and looked on the computer for inspiration, so we ended up with a car wash, petrol pump, traffic light and also had takeaway coffee machine too! Lots of fun role play

11.01.2022 Last week we had great fun playing camping, the children had been busy previously packing their bags for adventures around the garden so this was a great extension activity. During the week they ate, slept, read stories around the campfire, caught fish for dinner and put out lots of fires with our new fire engine!

10.01.2022 One of the best parts of my job is watching friendships blossom

09.01.2022 Mud, mud, glorious mud!

06.01.2022 This week we have water in rainbow colours, droppers, scoopers and lots of different shape and size containers. Invitation to play, mix, experiment, pour, learn, stir, serve dinner and lots of squeezing of the very popular droppers!

06.01.2022 One of the current favourite books is The 3 little pigs , so have started the week with a play table to act out the story and puppets to do a retell of the story at home too. Lets see where the week takes us

06.01.2022 Last week we removed our tired old trampoline and underneath was our dirt digging patch. So we decided to give it a make over and create a natural play garden for making tracks, diggers, animals, fairies and endless other things. The children worked on it all week, deciding where to plant, put rocks etc and they all loved it. We still needed to leave some dirt too! Im sure this will be a developing space and will evolve over time. A very fun project to do with kids!

03.01.2022 Also this week for our sensory play we have been making goo! The simple joys of cornflour, water and a drop of colour. Great as wet goo and lots of fun as dry goo too!
