22.01.2022 MADEA by EURIPIDES Staff who viewed the Year 12 girls' performance of the Ancient Greek tragedy, Madea by Euripides, have commented on how deeply moved they were by the contemporary staging of a very powerful ancient story. The girls have been using Zen Zen Zo’s Core Principles, in conjunction with Suzuki’s Training Method to develop a performance in the style of Physical Theatre. This required the girls to use minimal text, adopt an ensemble approach and communicate the su...ffering of Medea by not just using their bodies, but highly stylised makeup and costume in addition to unconventional and innovative use of the space itself. 'Students enjoy this form of theatre immensely as there are no stars in a Physical Theatre performance, the ensemble itself is of most importance,' says Co-ordinator of Senior School Drama, Ms Nancy Macks. Congratulations to Year 12 Drama students Katie Wright, Claire Faulkner, Zoe Lavaring, Meddy Taylor , Abbey Phipps, Grace Lennon, Demi Eather and Issy Walsh for their fearless work.

19.01.2022 ABOUT LAST NIGHT.... 'Last night was a wonderful hallmark of the cohort we call our 2020 seniors. The 'FairHolme' family have held their Christmas Dinner together before they all head home tomorrow. 2020 has been quite the journey for these girls - but if these smiles are anything to go by - it will take more than a global pandemic and a few closed borders to break the Fairholme spirit #thefairholmeway #fairholmeboarding
13.01.2022 "I remember the first time I ever raced. It almost felt like my feet never touched the ground." - Freeman, ABC TV + iview Who caught Fairholme Old Girl, Cathy Freeman (Cathy Freeman Foundation) on ABC last night? What an incredible documentary - exploring the extreme pressure on Cathy, along with her ancestral connections and a newly reconciled Australia. 08.01.2022 H O M E (with or without the L) "Home is your favourite spot to sit at lunch. It’s the same chair you choose to sit at in maths class. Home is your worn-in tartan dress and the accompanying panama; the echoing chatter of girls throughout G block; the Friday afternoon bell, or rather, song. ... Home is attending a debating meeting and leaving with more unresolved arguments than when you came. Home is the cheer of friends as you battle the last lap of the 800m on athletics day. 07.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY In Archives, we have a box of mystery photos called the ‘Tartan Files’. These are unidentified photos of groups of girls wearing the MacLaren Tartan uniform taken in the 1980s and 1990s. A photo from the 1990s, with girls wearing the summer uniform, but also swathed in gold sashes. Teachers, Mrs Catherine Ketton and Mrs Margaret Brown, are also in the photo. A group of Junior School Students on the steps of the Patrea O’Shea Music Block before it ...was renovated and turned around to face the driveway. It is facing the Homestead in this photo, taken before 1998. A group of girls in summer uniform on the veranda of Cameron Homestead. We know the photo is before 1995 as they are wearing brown socks and shoes. Black shoes were introduced in 1995, as it was getting too difficult to source brown school shoes. Why are the girls wearing sashes on their heads in photo one? Are those Senior students on the steps of Cameron Homestead in photo two? Are you in photo three? So many questions! If you can shed light on any of these photos, comment below See more
