25.01.2022 Hi all, something a little different from our animal posts. Kerri’s sons car has been stolen. We want to help him get it back. We have followers all over the state and we would like to ask if you could please share Matt’s post so we can help him find his car.
23.01.2022 Can you help? Well we are in and almost settled at our new home in Hillier but it has come at a huge financial cost to us with the physical cost of moving, building pens and the purchase of the property as well as not having as many visitors as we received at Fairview Park. We desperately need hay and have the opportunity to purchase a bulk lot at a significant cost saving than just purchasing individual bales., but the funds are just not available to do so. We are currently ...paying $100 per bale but can get them for $70 each if we buy a minimum of 10. Any help, no matter how small is greatly appreciated. We also offer sponsorships for all of our residents with support starting for as little as $10 per week please contact us to discuss options. 22.01.2022 A Cup Of Coffee Things are tough, 2020 has not been kind to most of us. Jobs have been lost.... Finances have been severely effected. And many, many animals have been abandoned, neglected or left homeless and the strain on shelters at the moment is at a breaking point due to donations drying up. But we battle on, because the animals need us and without us they have no-one but we can’t do it alone. Our donations at 1/4 of what they were at this time last year, yet the calls for assistance have almost doubled and our hearts break every single time we have to say no to an animal in desperate need as we know that this can mean disaster for them - it is not their fault. But luckily things seem to be returning to normal and we Pray that 2020 finishes off being somewhat kinder to us all. We have come across some lovely hay at $6 a bale, which is nearly 1/3rd of what we are currently paying ($15) but we need to secure as many bales as we can there are 400 available. Can you help us? For the cost of a cup of coffee you can feed 1 alpaca or sheep for a week. For 2 cups, you can feed one of our ponies for a week and for the cost of 3 cups of coffee you can supply one of our big horses their weekly hay. So please, next time you sit down for a cuppa, please consider helping an animal in need by donating $6 to buy a bale of hay. Together, we can make a difference. 14.01.2022 At 6:37pm our boy Rex crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Rex presented unwell 4 weeks ago and despite the best efforts of our wonderful vet Lucas van Oijen, the heartb...reaking decision was made to lay him to rest. We take comfort in knowing that Rex was surrounded by love from Kim and Kerri as he crossed the bridge. 27/3/2011 - 22/6/2020 See more
12.01.2022 Hello wonderful followers. We have encountered a few comments about the death of our Robbie and I’d really like to rule these issues out right away. Robbie had and accident in the paddock (not our own) that he was spelling in. This unfortunately resulted in his needing to be euthanized by our vet yesterday afternoon. We make no decisions alone and when this became apparent that he would be put to rest myself and our other senior volunteers were all on site having a discussio...n with our vet Lucas. Coming to terms with/making the ultimate decision for an animals life and well being is never a decision we make easily, or take lightly and I wish it was one we never had to make. But as animal owners (as many of you are) it is a responsibility we take and something we understand when making the choice to share our lives with companion animals. We get the blessing to share the best of their lives but with that comes the day we must part, say our goodbyes, hold our heads high and make the BEST choice for THEM. If we don’t stand by our vets judgement always, why would we ever use him? We trust his decisions. We respect his care and above all we will always act on his professional advice when it comes to the care of our babies. I’m sorry that the death of Robbie has given people a sudden voice to tell us what we could have and should have done better. The simple fact is that we did everything we could and it was time to lay Robbie to rest and end his pain. He is now in the clouds running a muck with our other lost loves We are Fairview Lodge x
03.01.2022 Many of our regulars would know our girl Josie. Josie is severely frightened of humans and doesn’t like to be touched let alone caught. While we can get her to ...and from the round yard for exercise, getting her in and out of the paddock is next to impossible due to not being able to catch her. This makes it really difficult for when she needs treatment. We have had a few people working with our beautiful girl and are so thankful for the help we have received this far. Our amazing farrier Brett Lowe has been so generous in helping us to get her to the next step, when it came to getting her hooves trimmed Brett could see how scared she was and reached out to do a few sessions with her to get her used to him for when he comes in for routine trims. Over the past two weeks Brett has worked with Josie, coming in to brush her, give her a wash and get her used to him. Today we celebrated with a walk around the property and a trip to the back yard for some grass Thank you Brett, you’re more than just a farrier mate and we are forever grateful
