22.01.2022 The culture, history, and colour of India was celebrated at Fairview Village recently, when residents, staff and their family members, enjoyed an armchair photo session to magnificent India, sampled some Indian food, watched a chapatti cooking demonstration, participated in a sari and turban tying competition and even attempted a bit of Bollywood dancing. 21.01.2022 Last year Fairview Village resident, musician and music buff, Lloyd George, presented a celebration of 100 Years of Jazz: 1917 2017 to fellow residents, staff and guests from the Baw Baw U3A group. This year Lloyds presentation was 80 Years of Swing: 1938 2018, including recordings, film clips and posters plus authentic snare and brass drums from 1935. Swing music dominated popular music from 1935 until 1947 when popular taste moved away from the big bands towards vocalists and smaller groups. But it is still with us in many ways, both in recordings and performance. Many thanks to Lloyd for another very informative and enjoyable presentation. #Jazz #swing #fun #Lifestyle #community

16.01.2022 Fairview celebrated Australia Day 2020 with a traditional good old Aussie BBQ lunch followed by some typical Australian type activities. Fairview residents and staff enjoyed getting involved in the occasion by dressing up, writing and sharing their own poetry about Australia, participating in an Australian slang quiz and having a shot at winning the thong throwing competition. The Wool Group very proudly donated 3 boxes of scarves, jumpers and beanies to the Warragul Food Bank for the needy people of Warragul this winter. Two days later a box full of tiny hats and jump...ers was delivered to the maternity ward at the West Gippsland Hospital for the little premature babies. Another visit was made to the Family Violence Unit for Baw Baw at the Warragul Police Station. The toys that were delivered to the Warragul Police Station will be used to help families get through their difficult times and children can have something to cuddle.
