23.01.2022 The Flags are back up at Fairy Meadow beach with Wollongong City Council lifeguards back on duty from today. Tomorrow our Lifesavers will be back doing what we do best! Be sure to say hello if you’re down for a swim. 1 day to go!
22.01.2022 We would like to thank the IMB Bank for their support through the IMB community Foundation 2020 Grants. Fairy Meadow SLSC is proud to announce that we will be receiving the funds to purchase a brand-new IRB - replacing our ageing and outdated twin hull model. It will be used for patrolling operations, Support operations including after-hours callouts, and Water safety for our Junior activities. This expensive piece of equipment has a key role in keeping our community safe and we cannot thank the IMB enough for their support of our Club and the local community. #IMBBankCommunityFoundation #imbbank #Community #fairymeadowsurfclub
22.01.2022 With such perfect conditions it’s no wonder FM was busy today. Big shout out to the lifesavers on duty today, especially Catie, Brandon, Ashton, and Blake who all carried out rescues today. Goes to show even on the nicest of days people can get into trouble in the surf #fairymeadowsurfclub #fairymeadowbeach #swimbetweentheflags #mysurflife #slsnsw

17.01.2022 A big thankyou to everyone who helped with today's gear inspection and working Bee. One step closer to the start of the 2020/2021 season!
16.01.2022 Tomorrow morning marks the first day of the 2020/2021 Patrol Season for Fairy Meadow. Here’s a little bit about your Club Captain for this season Sam Phillips. I went through Nippers at port Kembla, going onto do my SRC then my Bronze. I patrolled there a few seasons and even joined the women rowing team. With life getting crazy I stepped away for a period of time to focus on myself and career. This is my second season at Fairy Meadow and I took on the role of club captain.... In doing so I am hoping to encourage new members to step into roles on the executive and committee to help better the club. Not knowing what to expect with this role, so far it has been a rollercoaster. Enjoyable, challenging, stressful at times but pretty rewarding to see everything I have worked so hard for behind the scenes to becoming together before the season starts. Being a part of a Surf Boat crew was an amazing experience and would love to see both a men's and woman's crew start back up at the club. Sam has done a fantastic job preparing us for tomorrow - we wish her all the best in her first season as Club Captain.
16.01.2022 Fairy Meadow Surf Lifesaving Clubs 2020/2021 Club President is Bill Kuiper. Bill is returning in 2020 after a short break. Bills vision for this season is to help the club reengage with our local community. He wants the Club to reconnect with local businesses & organisations that have supported us in the past and looks forward to forming new relationships with others. Bill says 2020 has been a tough year for all of us. With international travel on hold and interstate travel h...eavily restricted, why not get involved with your local community focused organisation and spend the summer on the beach learning new skills and making new friends. We are fortunate to have 2nd and 3rd generation members in active leadership positions in our club who are ready to pass on their learnt knowledge and skills to everyone, from members new and old in our organisation to the general public who swim at our beach. Bill brings with him decades of experience across Lifesaving, Surf Sports, Junior activities and Education. Bill is a life member and has successfully held a number of committee and Executive committee roles. There are few members still active in our Club who have as much knowledge and experience as him. Let’s make 2020/2021 a safe, productive and most importantly an enjoyable season.

We encourage you to promote registration to your family and friends. The more friends your children have at nippers the more enjoyment they are likely to have and to continue attending in future years. FAMILY FRIENDS FUN FAIRY MEADOWS NIPPERS
06.01.2022 Meet the Team // with the season fast approaching it is time to properly introduce the new committee. Your Treasurer for 2020/2021 is Derek Morton. Derek is one of our life members and has a long history at FM. Derek has held several roles over the years, most recently as IRB Captain and long-standing Patrol Captain - with 3 decades of Patrolling experience. Derek is a familiar face for many of our members in there 20s who came up through the nippers - he was there every Sunday providing water safety and much needed encouragement as many of us tackled what we thought was big surf. Derek has mentored countless members on patrol and is always around to help anyone wanting to learn to paddle a ski. An absolute legend of our Club and we are grateful to have him onboard for another season.
06.01.2022 REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS // You need to Check in using your mobile phone and the provided QR codes every time you enter the Surf Club, Function Room and Boat Shed. You will find QR codes in every area of the Surf Club. #covidsafe
05.01.2022 Yesterday we announced that the IMB Bank will be providing FM with the funds to purchase a new IRB. We thought today we would throwback to the days when FM raced IRB's competitively. While today FM uses the IRB purely for Patrol, Support operations and Water Safety. The guy's photographed here went on to teach numerous members how to crew and drive the IRB for rescue operations and water safety. Their Knowledge and skills were instrumental in mentoring a whole generation of IRB crew and drivers at our Club. Another shoutout to the IMB Bank for their support! #throwbackthursday #fairymeadowsurfclub #IRB #mysurflife #imbbankcommunityfoundation

03.01.2022 PUBLIC ALERT: AUTHORITIES HAVE TOWED WHALE CARCASS OFF WANIORA POINT, BULLI The Wollongong Police District informed Surf Life Saving Illawarra that the whale (...carcass) off Waniora Point, Bulli Beach reef was being towed by authorities to Bellambi Boat ramp this afternoon. Several sharks have been sighted throughout the day feeding from the carcass and surrounding waters. Surf Life Saving Illawarra would like to remind the public that the whale carcass will continue act as an attractant to sharks off the Illawarra coast. Advice is that water users should: Take additional caution in the vicinity of any whale carcasses. Adhere to any beach closures advised by Wollongong City Council. Image: Georgia Matts
